@Roberto – many thanks for your considered response. I am 1hr 30mins into today’s emirates call! Have asked wife to chase OTB again.

@NorthernLass – thank you. I will call travel insurance at 8am UK time; they were closed yesterday and Saturday at 6pm so not been able to talk to anyone. Their 24hr line is for medical emergencies only (HSBC Premier).

Morning all,

Looking for some advice please. Family of 4 (2 under 5) stuck in Dubai. We were booked on EK023 back to EDI on Saturday at the gate when the announcement came over the tannoy saying to leave the airport. Very few Emirates staff to assist and we were told to collect bags and find a hotel.

We booked somewhere thinking it would be a 1/2 night stay and be rebooked (how wrong could I be). Our holiday was booked via On the Beach who are refusing to do anything and just direct us back to Emirates. We have tried online chat with Emirates and phone calls with no success. We are still trying… (we are keeping as much documented as possible).

Is anyone liable for our hotel cost? Not sure how much longer we can stay if we are footing the bill. Any advice appreciated.

Probably should have mentioned not budget constrained and would like to stay in Manhattan to enable some non tennis related activities day/night. Has anyone stayed at Lotte Palace?
