    @Rewardingtrips Where did you see that flights are due to resume at 1400UAE time? All I can find is that flights are suspended until that time, unless there’s a significant change then that is likely to be extended.

    Good luck everyone affected and stay safe.

    @DragonLady Take only memories from and leave only footprints. I haven’t checked Delhi but Heathrow-Mumbai has been operating as normal so far. Routing is taking it north of the closed airspace.

    @tazzy Firstly, stay safe. With the airspace closed you only have two options, one is to travel by land to somewhere it is open. The other is to wait for the crisis to end. I can only begin to imagine how you are feeling, good luck.

    @Claire I’m sure they’ve done it already but don’t forget to apply for ESTAs for the US.

    @JDB I suppose my expectations of what would be appropriate in these situations are perhaps different, but certainly not rose tinted. Yes, it might take several days and as you say the sheer volume of passengers will be significant. I really do think though that the ME3 will do whatever is needed to get the show back on the road, they really don’t have any choice. Whether that be from a commercial perspective or from doing the right thing is irrelevant. If they didn’t then people would stop transitting the Middle East. We will know in a few days how things are developing, the last thing the world needs right now is more turmoil.

    I do agree though, that those who can make alternative arrangements with robust travel insurance should do so.

    @Aston100 That’s my biggest concern, what happens when you cut off the head of the snake is usually worse. Also, when I said the ME3 do a decent job, I meant over a period of days, the number of people affected will be significant.

    Late to the party tonight, busy at a family event. The ME3 are pretty good at sorting things out, unfortunately, when there is this level of disruption it can take a while. My gut tells me this will be over in a few days, the US is much more reluctant to put troops on the ground these days and there hasn’t been the mobilisation that would support it. What the long term prognosis is almost nobody knows. Good luck to everyone with regards travel etc, at the end of the day we are all in a better position than those in Iran that seek even basic freedoms.

    On a positive note my JPM is now worth £521.

    Shortage of crew, the authority change the flight duty rules and they didn’t get ahead of the changes even though were announced well in advance.

    @Man-of-Kent Quite possibly, Holbeach weapons range is there, RAF Sutton Bridge as it used to be called. There’s also Donna Nook further up the coast. Further out over the North Sea there are various training areas used for air combat practice and air to air refuelling amongst other things.

    Should have read the thread, Boost already mentioned.

    Unfortunately, it’s fairly common for this to happen. You could try to contact them on Xwitter and ring first thing in the morning. They will lock your account you should get the Avios back. There are other threads on here of similar happening and also on FlyerTalk. Others may be along this evening with more advice.

    @NorthernLass Yep, a lot of strategic aircraft positioning closer to the Middle East. Check out Pentagon Pizza Report on Xwitter for further updates.

    At least nobody will be spraying you with perfume and giving you free food on that trip!

    @davefl It sounds like quite an adventure, even the bits forced upon you?

    @polly
    Safe flight back.

    @freckles
    I’d take the cab, look at it as using some of the compensation from BA to minimise the stress.

    Good morning from the Lincolnshire Riviera where the sun is shining and we passed 95% return of investment on the solar panels yesterday. Very jealous of everyone’s travel updates, it feels a long time ago that we were in Tenerife (3 weeks!). Only 4 weeks now until we head to Sri Lanka for a month, here’s hoping it hasn’t become as popular as social media is suggesting?

    Quite a few of my IHG points bookings had dropped today so worth checking.

    @DragonLady
    Glad to hear you enjoying India, it’s a strange place as a tourist. I often say I won’t go back and then end up being drawn again a few years later.

    Heading to the CoOp for the first of three rabies jabs today, our GP surgery teased us by advertising £55 a jab on their website. On enquiring they don’t provide the service, grr. Next best was the CoOp at £70, Boots wanted £80. It was reading about @polly OH getting bitten that triggered the decision, £210 each for lifetime protection seems worth paying. Hope the OH is OK? Knowing my luck I’ll catch Chikungunya now but the vaccine for that is causing some side effects that are worse than the infection. Hopefully, our anti-mosquito regime will continue to be effective, Life Systems Expedition Pro 50% Deet!

    SS Laamu for me too but only once, bought points and used my balance for a total of 5 nights, 100k a night at the time which I assumed was the intern rate?

    As @AndrewT says departed is doors closed and in theory parking brake released. On most modern aircraft it automated using ACARS (Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System). The terminology is OOOI, Out, Off, On and In.

    Thanks all, with only 10 mins above MCT I’m tempted to lose a night in Quito and overnight at Lima airport. That will allow us to depart from AEP, first flight cash in PE, shorter flight using Avios in economy.

    @Richie It’s tight I admit, MCT is 75 minutes but looking at the stats for the flight it rarely runs late. I have 2 nights in Quito before we do anything else with no major plans but I might look at the alternatives.

    @TJ Thanks, I did look at Avianca but the recent reviews are almost all awful! It was £300 each in economy too. Yep, that’s the Latam fully refundable fare.
