I ended up just moving the flight to a different week that was basically the same price, which I’d not considered until I logged in to cancel it 🙂 The flight change fee just seemed easier than having to try and get letters from doctors etc.

via a quick segment run MAD-BCN-MAD the night before!
How long do you leave between arriving in bcn and flying out again? Can you do a b2b?
slidey 438 posts
What routings are you finding to be good/cheap with IB? I was originally gonna do the mad-bcn cycle over a weekend, but then there was the whole thing about them apparently objecting to giving credit for the same routes on the same days so didnt bother.

Has anyone booked – or even attempted to look for – points redemptions using RJ points?
The only redemption page Ive found has a search on it that looks like its escaped from about 1997 and that appears to only show RJ routes. Is there a way to even search for oneworld redemptions?
Failing that, does anyone know what the cheapest redemption prices start from?

For quite a while after diamond breakfasts were added, when I checked in at many IHG hotels the staff at the desk would ask if I’d like points or drinks vouchers as my diamond benefit. I used to take great delight in responding with I’ll take the complementary breakfast as if it was one of the options presented. At least half of the time theyd be trying to hide a smile, they knew exactly what they were doing.

Does it need every overseas trip youve taken in five years and the dates? More importantly is there any way they can actually check? Listing triple digit trips is.. not appealing.

As of right now gold breakfast and diamond lounge are still listed as ‘in addition to gold/diamond’ benefits on the reserve benefits page. But then the only known extra benefit for reserve atm is 22x points.
Assuming that stays as it is, could the reduction in nights needed be a one-off for 2026?

Oh dear Lord, if you can get gold for (effectively) 14 nights it will be worthless 😱😂. I can nearly do that with single nights airport hotels and the odd weekend away.
I might ditch even my HH visa and get a P2 avios Barclaycard for another upgrade voucher.
*It’ll also devalue the Platinum Amex benefit a wee bit if they do do away with free breakfast or any other tweak.
Id expect gold will be worthless, Id assume they will take away breakfast and then diamond will lose lounge.

At least I’m not the only one waiting for the tickets to become available.
I’ve a voucher burning a hole in my pocket while we wait for sales to reopen, as we want to head to Seoul before heading back to BKK.
Hope you also have a lot of points in that pocket as well, cos you just know theyre gonna be like 263,000 points every day lol

Which site was it booked on? If its booked via a partner you should have lounge access and afaik U means award ticket rather than business lite and that should have access to the lounge. Problem is its qatar and they just make things up as they go along.

Is there a way to use a giftcard with online purchases or can the giftcards only be used in store?

Ah ok, so you cant book the outbound using a 2for1 online and an inbound without a 2for1 online and then call BA to get the voucher applied to the inbound (unless the return wasnt available at the time of booking the outbooun)
But you can book the outbound using a 2for1 online and then call to have an inbound added to the voucher (tho technically it sounds that too is also against the terms)
I’m trying to work out if I’m gonna have any issues as I was planning on booking a 2for1 outbound in 2026 Q1 on the website but then getting the return added to it at a later date as I’m not sure what return I’m gonna want yet.
While on this subject, is it correct that if you book an outbound 2for1 at +355, you can add an inbound at any date up to a year after the date of the outbound?

@slonik – the agent is correct. The concession whereby BA will refund 50% of the Avios does only apply if the return flight wasn’t available for booking at the time of booking the outbound, otherwise they should be on one booking either online if booking at the same time or by telephone if adding a return later.
Do you know if there is anywhere on the BA site that says you cannot add a second flight to an existing voucher as Im sure that it used to be possible.
23rd October 2025 at 22:00 in reply to: Problems with combining 241 Open Jaw bookingslidey 438 posts
Does this basically mean that if both of your intended flights are within 355 days its no longer possible to book the outbound and then decide where you want the inbound to be from at a later date because they will refuse to add it to the 2 for 1?
Does it also mean that it would no longer be possible to book places like hkg as two one-ways to benefit from the lower fees, unless its at +355, as there would be no way to have them booked as two one ways?

Im not sure why but getting things credited to RJ always seems to need manual intervention.
Out of 15 flights –
2 ba credited automatically
2 sri lankan credited after emailing rj
2 ba credited after emailing rj
2 qantas have yet to credit after 5 emails to rj over the last 5 months
2 sri lankan, 2 qantas, 2 ba and 1 malaysian have failed to credit which Ive had to email about but yet to get a response to.All of these flights have the RJ number on the boarding pass so how are they so consistently failing to credit automatically?

Surely the slots are notional value as if there was a default heathrow/the govt could just nope the slots back and allocate them as they see fit, which in theory should be to whoever would best serve the passengers?

Not sure it’s a great idea to trust AI for something like that…
The T’s & C’s should be your only source of the truth.
I dont trust ai for anything, the slop thats plugged into everything seems to be wrong more than its right. I cant find anything in the terms that suggests its not covered, but then i have previously read that aus, italy and maybe ireland werent covered, tho that may have been a different countries plat card.
slidey 438 posts
I need it for today, so wont be checking for price changes 🙂
Does the amex plat car insurance cover australia? There seems to be conflicting opinions, google ai says it does not cover aus but the last time I was here Id looked into it and thought that it did?
