That’s really canny as I also have plenty of Avios.

With the Virgin vouchers, it can be the best bet is to use them one way and then use BA for the other although you may not have Avios.

At least I’m not the only one waiting for the tickets to become available.

I’ve a voucher burning a hole in my pocket while we wait for sales to reopen, as we want to head to Seoul before heading back to BKK.

Hope you also have a lot of points in that pocket as well, cos you just know theyre gonna be like 263,000 points every day lol

In which case in bit of jiggery pokery will mean a flight to LAX to stay with friends and then onto Korea before BKK and then back to Blighty.

    This is good to know.

Can you book on a single PNR with Qatar legs included? Eg. LHR-DOH-BKK(QR Metal)BKK-USM(Bangkok Airways metal)

It would be good to be able to through check luggage and have protected flights connections (in case of delays).

That I don’t know as we have a condo in Bangkok we never fly direct from the UK to an island.

I travelled on 15/10 and my experience was similar.

The 2nd lounge had been sold out for El Al passengers only.

Absolutely useless and, as you said, 3rd world vibes.

I had to transfer in Muscat and thankfully, their lounge is excellent.

As an aside, anyone else changing their USA plans or just me?!

    No, not just you.

Our best mates live just outside LA and we’d go 2 or 3 times a year but we are meeting them in Canada this summer instead.

We won’t go back until Trump is gone.

Personally I wouldn’t make a transfer point decision based on lounge access.

Price, schedule and on board experience are, IMHO, much more important issues to base a decision upon.

Unless you’re tied to Star Alliance there are multiple airlines that can get you to BKK ex MAN with only one stop.

Schedules and costs are almost identical between them and I’m only travelling with a cabin bag so it is coming down to “best airport experience” for the layovers.

I’m not tied to Star Alliance in any way but with Thai Air being a member it does make sense to be hoofing points in that pot when flying from BHX or MAN.

At least it does for me.
