It will get sorted… Ba’s system wont allow it to proceed with kids not actively seated “near” parents.

Yes the new club suite is an impractical option for adults with 3 year old kids , you might not even be able to even see them when the seat belts are on let alone help or comfort them.

Yes you could be spilt up into two x 2 spead over the two club world cabins .

Yes the child may not even be next to you. It could be behind or infront of you or across the aisle

Yes you would have been better on on the old club suite flying Gatwick (or another carrier but it’s too late to sort that now)

But if you don’t pay or chose in advance unfortunately you will be at the behest of the algorithm sorting out the seat allocation for you.

Remember other may have paid for the middle pairs , why should they be split up?

Should be fine but they need to speak to BA to get it reticketed of course. The phones will be busy , get ready for a 7:59am call and keep trying.

Heathrow busy this morning as you would expect

It’s back in the lounge. Rather uninspiring to be honest just nibbles/salad/cheese and an opportunity to grab a few free drinks.

At the Sofitel as I type , people do use the lounge to eat their evening “meal” and it will save serious cash against paying for food in the restaurant but don’t expect much.

Say hi to Elvis if you see him serving in the lounge. Top man who has a personal aim to get you sloshed in double quick time, always worth a fiver tip if you’re a fast/big drinker……

I live in Malaga so a little biased however if you’re looking for “guaranteed sunshine” I would have to say you need to look further afield than CE in November.

How close to the renewal date have you guys been asking?

My year runs dec-dec, asked today. Said cost of living and all that and just wanted to justify the fee , preempted the offer to downgrade to the free card saying thats not really what I wanted and asked if there was any reason to keep the card. Said I had other cards and was gonna call them all and have a cull somewhere.

Was offered the 10000 avios for £3000 spend in 90 days deal. I will be spending £2400 tomorrow, hence the call today 😀

The duty of care from BA has no 14 day window however its always a little more of an issue when it’s from the UK , you’re not on a connected flight and you’re a UK BAEC holder.

However I would be pretty confident that they will stump up for the Hotel and would be claiming for it AFTER the trip.

Infact I have exactly the same thing on the 24th of this month where my Malaga flight on the 23rd was cancelled some while ago and I have swapped to the following morning @ 06:40am and booked a night at the Sofitel. I could not have made the earlier flight on the 23rd so it was the 24th or cancel.

Usual rules apply , you can claim circa £200 for the hotel plus meals at about £25 per person per meal. No booze unfortunately.

BA PP retention offer today and was 10,000 avios spending £3000 in 90 days. Accepted

in reply to: When do bassinet seats become selectable?

No , not available at t-24 unless you have the required baby. They are available at the check in desk but you still run the risk of getting booted out if (a) a baby does turn up – this is unlikely but I had it happen or (b) the captain or senior crew member gazumps you and takes the seat for their plus one – this is much more likely and has also happened to me.

The last one I did for my wife her part-time wages were less than £20k. Accepted.

I think what happened is that the OP bought a seat and paid extra for the one next to them to be empty. Veuling then issued a BP for that seat to another passenger.

Contact Vueling and if you don’t get a refund with 30 days then do a charge back with your credit card provider for the extra cost you paid for the extra space.

Or how about looking at your booking on rj.com or finnair.com ?

Have you tried logging out and checking via MMB on Ba.com whilst not logged in?

Been once so hardly an expert. The island can be windy and certainly was when we were there about 6/7 years ago in June or July.

Apparently the east coast is more sheltered than the west where we stayed at an all inclusive on “Long Beach”.

if it was CE it’s also possible that Avion Express are being capped at less rows than they’d send out a BA flight with. I do also recall some weirdness where wet leased flights couldn’t be booked via Avios

As I understand it currently all LGW flights are capped at 8 rows of club on the A320 (which Avion use) due to the number of crew on the plane. Exit row seats for those with status are easier to find than on flights out of Heathrow where club can go back to row 12 and the number of crew fluctuates depending on the load. My Malaga flights are a case in point, if flying economy and not connecting in the UK I will choose LGW as the exit seat sticks.

Some businesses don’t have enough staff to run at 100% currently and sensibly throttle back to ensure they can cope.

Same thing happened. Amex ask for the bank statement relating to a specific amount dating back 15 months ago. I had paid by curve.

I called and said I don’t have that bank account, asked them to send a cheque.

    It’s not gonna be cheap.
The west coast is Sargassam free mostly
You will need to book well on advance
There is free fireworks on the beaches
If you want something nice for NYE , you’re gonna pay a couple of thousand minimum for 4 people.

I been there over NYE , its either pay or go to the beach with the locals. There is nothing else.

Accommodation costs will be $300 plus plus , cars will be very scarce , taxis will cost the earth. Whatever you decide to do , book it in advance or just take a bottle to the beach and chill .

Personally I would choose either st lawrence gap or Holetown depending of what you can find.

Don’t forget the jetlag , midnight will be very early in the morning UK time.

    Have a great trip.

Upgrades are unlikely, maybe one in 100 flights would be my personal upgrade tally. Never been upgraded WTP to Club , only ever Y to CE on SH , Y to WTP and J to F.

I would not expect anything to be honest.

    Edit :- I am a gold

Same for me. Malaga to LGW in August travelling in exit row ecomony seat. Was a 320 , is now a 320 – their planes are old and tired so it won’t feel/look the same but switching to another flight on that day won’t help me so will suck it up and deal with it.

Have a Finnair BA flight next week and had Iberia earlier this year so certainly trying everything.

Hey ho , it’s a first world issue and nothing to lose your sh1t over.

in reply to: How accurate is SeatSpy?
    358 posts

Seatspy has been pretty good in the past however when looking for Virgin flights recently I noted:-

    (1) Instant alerts were anything but
    (2) I could book over the phone despite SS saying no award seats available
    (3) The amount of miles it said was required was incorrect as the Carribean uses a different peak/off peak calendar

It is alleged that the route is a long expensive low margin flight. Mostly flown for many years with the worst and oldest planes, very little cargo and the “wrong type of passengers”.

I would go the day before the long haul ,stay overnight at the airport somewhere and taxi/train into the city for a few beers and some tapas.

Relax & start your holiday in style.
