I think it’d £35 per person each way.
So swapping both will run you £70 (per person).
You will need availability of course.

We have stayed at the Shangri La plenty of times. We generally get a Horizon level room for the extra club type of benefits. Great hotel , super location and they have some deals on atm.

Points? I very much doubt it – it’s a cash only kinda route and you better start saving. It’s always circa £1000 in ecomony and three or four times that in business.

It’s certainly a lovely island but it’s a long way from everywhere.. I hope you have a great trip , its been 42 years since I was last there and it still has a firm place in my heart.

2024 – I have flow 42 times, 28 on BA and earned less than 6,000 avios from flying alone. I appreciate many flights are reward flights but the new point per pound earning scheme has decimated my avios income from flying on cash tickets.

One flight we took we added a bag to a HBO fare and earnt more avios for the bag that the actual flight.

The Triton Hotel in Benalmadena is somewhere I would add to a short list for your trip. Super position, great facilities with everything you need on your doorstep. 15/20 mins from the airport.

Booked Hampton Torquay on prepaid rate £213 for 2 nights in Febuary. Charged to the card in some non-hilton hotel name but £50 credit appeared five or six days later into my amex statement. All good.

Waterfront restaurant and rendezvous were both good

My son lives about 100m from these two resturants, we have eaten on them many times and both offer reasonable food by Gibraltar standards.

However most resturants in Spain knock spots off anything Gib has to offer. Don’t expect too much and you won’t be disappointed.

    Rain expected all week.

Which sucks as you will need 40% more virgin miles for the same trip when dynamic pricing comes in at the end of the month.

We were there a couple of weeks ago for the day getting off a Virgin Cruise. Its a very walkable city which is full of Chocolate shops in the main.

We did stop for some lunch , I went for the mussels as did many around me and it did not disappoint. https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant_Review-g188671-d741827-Reviews-T_Schrijverke-Bruges_West_Flanders_Province.html But there are plenty of other options , you can’t really go wrong.

And do the canal boat tour….

We flew MH business on avios from KL to Melbourne and it was better than OK. If you’re planning to sit together make sure you check the seating plan as the seats have some odd arrangements.

Have a great trip , we thinking ahead to our feb 2026 trip back to KL (and Langwaki) at the moment but burning a 241 out of LHR hopefully. I don’t quite have the 220k avios available just yet but should do for when the seats open up in feb/March 2025.

The last 24 months I have stayed at Conrads in The Maldives , Algarve , Singapore , Nashville and Las Vegas. Was Diamond for some and Gold latterly. No free upgrades offered.

I did get an upgrade to an executive room at the Hilton Gatwick recently but as I arrived about 11pm the lounge was of little use.

in reply to: Is an upgrade easy if you downgrade to the free card?

Recent comments have said that some people are denied upgrading back to the PP card. I had never heard this previously so prehaps the trend is against people exploiting this loophole.

I’ve got my first ever VV voyage coming up having booked one of the Travelzoo deals over the summer- I noticed things on the ship seem to be billed in USD, so I was wondering when they charge this to my card if this is charged in USD or if they convert it to the original currency I paid in (GBP in this case)? Thank-you!

I just got off – it’s charged to your card in USD. Your card will convert it if its a non-USD card.

You could look at the DUB-LHR-jFK-LAX-SFO returning to Madrid or Malaga for about £1200 which will get you half way there. And then go from SFO to Japan whist in the US.

And maybe a five day BAH from Jersey or Manchester via London to somewhere long haul in club for another 720TPS. You will need to do that before the end of June 2025 and that would get you back to Gold more or less until 1st May 2027 and which time you would drop to Silver for another 12 months.

When it’s weather related planes often sit and wait in a ready to fly state to take advantages of sudden weather improvements. If your not ready you will miss your place in the queue..

And I don’t understand the toilet lock comment – just ask someone to stand guard and you stand guard for them.

I can’t see any benefit in resubmitting your complaint.
