Has anyone had any luck getting both a commercial and personal card?

no pro rata refund for me yet. Player 2 has had hers and they have sent it to bank account but left behind a £12.50 refund that’s been on the account for a while. Messages been sent to to them to process that which they have just ignored. They are a shambles of a firm

Wife accepted resolution. Free night, points owed posted in 2 batches. Logged into her Creation account today and see a “goodwill adjustment” which would cover pro rata refund of fee.

I rejected resolution. Free night, points owed posted in 2 batches. Logged into my Creation account today and no refunds there.

    Bizarre.

So have until June 10 to spend £10k per month fronted in metal at HMRC with COT and then need to switch to corporate debit where you’ll pay 0.1% fee. Assume it also needs to be fronted – so 10k limit still applies?

They need to allow 2 cards, not sure they will. May need to use player 2 now

This has prompted me to take a look at the app and I now see that my business cards (including CoT) are now showing an “Avoid the fees” message. Clicking that, it asks me to confirm my employment type, and when I select the appropriate option, it tells me I’m eligible for a free business card, or gives me “Other options”. The other options are Curve Metal (free for up to £1500 then 1.5% fee) or to stay on my current plan (Legacy Black), free up to £1000 then 1.5% fee.

I did originally have a business Curve card, but ended up mostly using it for personal payments after Amex support was dropped, and only switched to a personal Curve card when HMRC started charging for business debit cards (as I was using it to pay my self-assessment bills). My preferred HMRC payment method goes via Curve to a card that I see appears to be coded as ‘business’, so I guess I’ll get £1000 (a month?) free on that, then may have to settle for a lower Tesco earning rate for the balance, or see how much HMRC charges me to use the other card directly.

£1000 or £10000 per month? I thought curve metal gave £10000 per month fronted transactions for free

If creation had written to card holders who had supposedly taken advantage of their lax processes to advise them this is why the card is closing creation would have a point. They didn’t though and just sent a letter saying account is closing without saying why. They are an amateur organisation. Simple as that. Allowing bills to be paid off by credit cards, unreal. Even advertising it on the payment page. And that’s without getting onto curve. Management at creation not the smartest it’s fair to say.

I have also had another addition of points today. Reflecting total balance that was in my account

    I rejected, wife accepted.

We both have received less points than due and free night voucher with no notification.

I asked my wife to “blindly” accept so let’s see the what the 2 outcomes are.

If you are happy to accept the offer in principle, you can just accept conditionally, i.e. specifying the pounds, points and FNC you are expecting to receive and asking the FOS to put your case on hold, undertaking to confirm to the FOS if/when Creation settles and if not to reopen. The only upside of not accepting would appear to be some sort of inconvenience but these are usually quite small. I know how angry people here are about Creation, but there are far, far worse cases at the FOS and they still get fairly nominal sums.

I replied following this approach saying I expected the correct pro rata refund, x points and the voucher to be issued with 12 months validity. They replied that this is marked as a rejection and needs an investigator to be assigned. So basically expect you to blindly accept what is stated

The new pricing options also need you to consider how many Avios you have and whether it is worth saving some for future trips to make best use of any 2 for 1/upgrade vouchers

You can book Qatar through BA’s website (seats released 330 days or so in advance). No need to pay fees to book seats on Qatar

I again raised that how can I accept something when I don’t know what it is, their response:

The settlement you’d receive upon acceptance of the offer made by Creation will be individual to you in line with the points and vouchers you would have been eligible to receive.

If you have any concerns after this settlement is issued that an error has been made you would then contact Creation to raise these concerns, Should Creation fail to address these concerns then you can get back in touch with us.

    FOS response:
You said you’re prepared to accept Creation Financial Services Limited’s (“Creation”) offer provided that, in relation to the Anniversary Night vouchers, you are considered an “eligible customer”.
Creation will issue vouchers and award points in line with the account terms. If there are any discrepancies regarding this once you receive the settlement, you need to contact Creation in the first instance and contact us if Creation don’t resolve the issue.
Please confirm if you’re happy to accept on this basis.

I’ve bitten the bullet and said yes.

Account terms only allow for a voucher to be given if you’re an account holder on renewal. If your card wasn’t renewed during the notice period then Creation can wriggle out of sending the voucher based on this wording…

I received the same generic response even though I asked for my individual details of pro rata fee refund and points/free night voucher. Seems like the ombudsman is happy for process to be delayed further/allow Creation to stumble along and potentially short change people. Imagine having to re-refer a case to them, how long would it take to resolve?

I received the same. No comp for them taking so long to resolve then

Successfully booked my Qatar outbound to Melbourne last night on BA website for 23rd Jan 2024. Seats when first released on Qatar only had double Avios but after 4-5 days started to show availability for the 90k Avios seats. This thankfully was reflected on BA whose calendar only releases seats a week or so behind Qatar.

Inbound for the week after looking full now. Hoping seats are released similar to outbound otherwise need to look into other options including Singapore Airlines.

By way of update, booked my return leg with Qatar (90k points vs 130k with Singapore though higher taxes). Seats did not show on Qatar when released the 5 days ahead (except 2x cost). Then again like last time (perhaps to tie in with BA calendar) cost dropped to standard rate after 5 days or so and I wa sable to book at midnight. BA shows 2 seats at that price.

On a related point I booked club returns to Barbados in March using new BA voucher (no availability with old). Pricing defaulted to highest Avios and I didn’t think to check and paid 180,000 Avios plus £900. I found it interesting that BA defaulted to highest Avios.

After checking the options I am ok with what I paid in the end as have tons of Avios though actually if you were not may not have been the best choice.

    Hello,

Apologies I am going to jump on this thread with more questions on the same subject rather than any answers for you. Bit of a novice Avios collector but had diligently been accumulating to get the 360k needed for OH and myself to Australia for Christmas. Realised very naïve to think I could just jump on and find seats at that points rate, as noted can only see double points availability which I didn’t even realise was a thing – very disheartening. Thought I was looking early but can see I am a bit behind everyone else! Does anyone know if more likely to be able to get 360k seats in like Feb (2024) time? Is it a case that you need to get onto these right at the 355 day mark to have a chance?

A couple of practical questions (apologies if already covered)
    – On QR website it says you can only book an Avios seat if you have at least 50% of the Avios needed, does this mean you can book when you don’t have the full amount and secure the seat? If so, when and how does the balance of Avios need to be ‘paid’? Could it be I can book Avios seats and then wait for an Avios sale to come up in the next few months to buy the remaining Avios I need at a reduced price?
    – How do you book Avios seats on Qatar website for two people? Myself and OH each have enough for ourselves in our own respective BA and QR (combined) accounts – will it recognise this and allow us to be both on the same booking and take the points from our respective QR accounts? Or do you either need to have the total points in one persons account (if so how could you go about this?) Or do you need to make two separate bookings when separately logged in as each passenger?
Many thanks for any helpful replies

Where are you going to? I’ve seen seats to Melbourne for next year at normal rate in early Jan

Do you mind me asking on which dates? I have been consistently checking all Australian/NZ cities for standard rate Avios seats in Jan 2024 and haven’t seen any availability until around the 20th/21st.

earlier in the month was available in the last 2 weeks. They seem to get snapped up quickly
