@SamG
We have been saying the same here. Surely they could do any of the Asia stop points? Or move ops to Muscat. They seem to be unaffected… Good luck to all trying to get home or away….polly 437 posts
@freckles hope you have a fun day out in NYC today, even if it is 6C. Still so much see and explore there.
Awake at 4am, jet lag expected, but always nice to be home too. Lots to be said for the morning brief fresh air walk later, well wrapped up…27th February 2026 at 16:06 in reply to: Nothing beats a Jet2holiday – trip report by Froggee (paterfamilias)polly 437 posts
Great fun read .. always enjoyable. Soon time for those Mark Warner, Sunsail, Club Med trips. Mrs F can read all day while the kids are kept VERY busy. Ours loved them.

@NorthernLass
Agree re the outdoor pools, lakes etc in UK. My sis in law loves wild swimming in Bristol, even at 4deg. I shiver just hearing her talking about how uplifting it is. I don’t agree. Like you, don’t want to lose my toes and fingers from frostbite. In Lot et Garonne next we have to go to the indoor pool at a really pretty village called Pujols. Heated, as the french national team train there, apparently. Only consolation is the lovely local lunches in the village square, tiny with two gorgeous churches. @LD will know this place too.
Getting ready to light the fire now. Such a contrast….
The daffodils met us in full bloom and a gorgeous red camellia. So thats uplifting.
Great reading about everyone’s current travel experiences. Getting good tips on here.polly 437 posts
@freckles have done the air train many times with or without company. It’s quite straightforward as you have discovered. Some characters on board can be a little scary, but no eye contact the way to go. Shame you missed the ice hockey at MSG, it’s quite thrilling. The speed…. Enjoy the city, and don’t freeze!
Meantime, we had a lovely flight back from KUL, landed 25 mins early, so assistance hadn’t even started work. Chatted about Frank Gardner debacles x 3. So she phoned to hurry them up. Great reaction. Pilots very friendly chatting while we waited. Lo and behold, there were headsets and Wi-Fi, so all good. And @Michael-C they even managed to sit us together, handed us new BPs at the gate. Great service all round. Outdid themselves with the assistance. Really well organised these days, it seems.
Can’t believe it was 4 deg, and this time yesterday 32, and swimming in KUL. Big sigh, sad face. But it was such a great trip in so many ways. Feel very lucky😎polly 437 posts
Sorry @Roberto hope the flight was good…

Greetings from the Golden Lounge, finally we get in here. Will be nice to have silver again to gain access. Laksa to die for, 1st thing we ordered. Plus the cava is rather nice. Will try to get to some sleep on the flight. But I love the movies. Email informing us that, a limited no of headphone sets available, 20 mins before checkin. To download our own content, and bring our own headsets. Ours not compatible sadly.
Plus another email saying no Wi-Fi tonight either, and i needed to work, really! So how many avios do you think these 2 shortcomings are worth claiming for??? Apart from them not allowing me chose a seat a few days out , and left with 2 c88p seats! Fun and games ahead…. Wonder if @freckles had the same issue on their flight out today. We ae on the return flight tonight…polly 437 posts

Afternoon from Holiday Inn by KLIA. Delayed flight meant couldn’t do OLCI til MN. With sketchy airport Wi-Fi to contend with. By then all tonight’s good seats gone. So I am in front of the bassinet aisle seat. OH next row middle seat, he’s unable to climb over anyone to go to the loo. So that’s us swopping as soon as we get on there. All seats taken, Didn’t even bother to check F avios seats, as so stressed by late arrival. Only got to hotel check in, in the early hours. Very good tho, gave us a 5pm check out. OH was IHG for years but no status now. They were very nice here. Breakfast was good too, nice choice with egg station.
The sun finally shone, so we even got a final 1hr swim this afternoon. Shame can’t meet up with hfpter…. He will have arrived by now..Just glad to be on the flight.polly 437 posts

Currently waiting on our delayed flight out to KUL, sitting it out in the Concordia lounge (no booze licence tho) so cant even console ourselves with a nice bubbly or sauvignon treat. Food really nice tho. Delayed 2hrs so far, so any plans we might have had @Michael-C have literally flown out the window. So it will be collapse and sleep am afraid. DPS v busy post CNY traffic. Oops, off to gate now.. cheers. Sad to leave Bali…

Last good morning from Bali. Check out of Westin today 2pm. Rained our entire 3d stay, but still a lovely place. Food superb as we would expect. Last Rabies shot for the OH. Then fly back to KUL this evening from where we hope to board our BA flight home tomorrow night. Let’s hope we get seats at OLCI this pm.
@LD27 Is there some security alert going on there? Sounds intimidating. Have a good trip anyway. How did you two hfp pair meet up tho? Am often looking out for them.
Shame @Roberto and I can’t wave to each other Thursday night as we pass each other by, us getting on and them off the plane.polly 437 posts
Woe @Roberto thats amazing coincidence. Have a great time. Where are you staying in Penang. We did the Strang Ri la there a few years ago. We’re just there beginning f this trip Edison and E&O. Love Penang. Have a great trip.

@Misty
We are in Phuket most years, but tend to stay down at Cape Panwa and its lower key sister long stay hotel Kantary Bay. Great pools. Have not seen a single influencer hanging about posing. The odd honeymooners doing selfies etc. it’s so off the beaten track, we meet lots like ourselves. Would recommend it, unless you have points to use. We have stayed at the Pavillions up north too, odd poser there. But we have actually booked another Panwa stay via Luxury Escapes for next November, offer we couldn’t refuse. Check it out anyway. Staff are lovely, food very good. Local places very nice to eat at too. Large quiet beach. Phuket was one of our cancelled trips also when OH was ill. Don’t dismiss it. Enjoy the planning😎polly 437 posts
@SamG Thanks. 6E is the only J seat free atm. Got through after 40 minutes.. 1 hour on chat before that being told all live agents are busy! They said the seats are restricted. And none pre assigned to us. That they will be releasing a few over the next 2 days, the last ones around check in time. Seems weird that bronze can’t reserve. Assured me that all booked pax would have a seat. Wasn’t really reassured by that. Said also it’s local policy. First time we have experienced this out of KUL after many trips there. Also said he couldn’t assign us restricted seats either.. Thought crew had their own rest bunks? 2nd team of pilots usually go in F. That’s what we saw coming over.
Was actually hoping they would open those F seats to avios tomorrow or Thursday morning. Would upgrade to F if we could. They have been doing that the odd day with F seats.polly 437 posts
Calling on the powers that be here on hfp. Re our J flts back Thursday night from KUL. Forgot to reserve seats as bronze, can’t believe such a rookie error.. anyway checked this am, only 1 seat available for 2 of us in J. It wouldn’t let me assign it to OH, as he needs to stretch out. Kept defaulting to my name, my CV, probably. Wouldn’t let me confirm either, insisted both pax must chose a seat! Well, it would have been nice if there were 2 seats to reserve.
However, he got the welcome, “prepare to fly CW email” at 2am, I got none. Wondering if they have pre assigned seats for us, as we have a wheelchair booked to get him to the plane. Still selling 1 x J, 1 x F seat on the night too, which is strange if we can’t reserve 2 seats. Any thoughts? Downgrade/upgrade 1 of us? Bit anxiety provoking, to say the least, after a great positive trip. Sticks and all.
In the Westin Bali our last 3 days, raining constantly, sadly. Air Asia back to KUL tomorrow. Been great until this little hiccup… am getting in touch when the call centre opens. Hopefully will get an agent who can resolve it.polly 437 posts
Yes we are rewarded by airlines for saving lives. Long time ago, eldest daughter was only 8, 80yo had heart attack on board in J. We were in Y pre hfp days.. so 1992 BA to JNB. 2 hrs out, The no 1 was an ex nurse, he was a great help. I got an IV into him and some pain relief. Had the wife begging us not to divert into Harare, Captain on the phone saying should we divert or not??? They brought my kid up to sit by the dear wife, near us in J. It was such a risk, as his vital signs were so weak. Took a chance 1 hour out to keep going to JNB, they were feeble but stable. Nerves of steel. Ambulance met us at the plane, straight to CCU. Daughter phoned to say thanks! That was it, didn’t expect anything…. Scary experience tho🤕
It saved BA K1000s in lost cash. They did upgrade us to F on the way back. Pilot had organised it. And sent us 6 bottles of champagne. I had to chase them for the champers tho!polly 437 posts
@Cat Hope you got your flights as @Michael-C mentioned for half term, and you too M. Enjoy Menton M. It’s such a beautiful place, and all those lemon smells wafting n the air… Bali has to be the highlight (apart from the dog scratch plus Rabies vaccine for the OH) Honestly, can’t bring him anywhere.. simply for the pre op warm swimming program. Soooo beneficial in prep. Back home 27th, sadly. It’s been a blast… back to Bordeaux Monday for 10d, as grounded post op for 6 weeks.. so making the most of these couple of weeks. Am sure you can’t wait for Easter hols now x

@yorkshireRich Sorry didn’t reply to you the other day, tnx for good wishes, all well. Hope you have a great trip. Are you heading to Thailand. Bali? Re The Viceroy, we stayed in a Deluxw Pool Villa, upgraded, full width heated pool. Have to start collecting Hilton points as both Viceroy and the Edison in Penang are now with Hilton. Tricky to get started l think. Any Hilton bonus out there, I wonder
@Lady-London in reply, a dog scratched the back of OH leg, not a bite. But had to start his rabies vaccine course the next morning. Last one due day we arrive back to UK. But they will give it to him up to 2 days before then in Bali, the day we leave. All a bit of a muddle, but still enjoying the warmth and pre op/pre hab warm swimming.
@Michael-C Oh appreciated the ad jingle…. Enjoy the South of France, love Menton and Frejus.16th February 2026 at 15:27 in reply to: Finnair Plus Avios expired after transfer from BAEC — no warningpolly 437 posts
Agree with @Lady-London I think it’s a harsh ruling. A lot of us on here are only learning these rules on Finnair. Reminds me I. Must buy something from their E Shop. Certainly unfair. Guess you need to plead ignorance, and be nice to them. It may work as for the OP. Good luck again.

Good morning from the balmy Bintang Bali resort,Kuta. Following a couple of days of tropical storms and wind. Back here for the next few days. Adored The Viceroy in UBUD, and even extended our stay by 2n. Will post on Bali link. pricey, but a real treat. OH had 2nd Rabies injection Friday. No frothing at the mouth yet, dog that did it still hanging around the area, also no symptoms.. thankfully. Fun and games..

Still, rather sharp behaviour on the part of Finnair. People, be aware.. Hope everyone’s taken note of this restriction. Obvs, not hard to create an activity ie. buy something. But it’s the not knowing that surprises us all… Had no idea of this.. hope you get your avios returned, like the other poster.

Yes, happy if they do the 25k spend, but always hopeful. The extra nTPs per flight sector definitely helping ease the pain!

@Aston100 Talk here now of a metro system being planned. Got to clear the brown envelopes first, I gather… seems too many locals can afford cars now, adding greatly to the congestion….
