@Wusker – welcome to the forum

I can’t remember what is said on the website, but if it’s showing OK in the app, then hopefully you’ll be fine. I’d have thought if you were to be charged, then Iberia would have presented a payment screen in order to secure those seats.

Same problem too and found no fix. I used to find re-installing the app worked, but no luck with that either.

Ah, those cables that only carry very selective information! More likely BA’s famous IT.

Logged in this morning and the 500 nTPs have posted. Still not received an email about this, nor about the Amex “offer”. Thanks HfP are on the ball otherwise I’d have missed this. Feeling more unloved by BA.

Even if they randomly showed an occupation level, it would be correct some of the time …

I normally go for the clear cache, clear data, log back in approach to kick start it back into life. Such a poor experience.

I think this year will be more of a transitional year – people still choosing BA over others due to the status that they currently have. This may change when that status goes. I’ve got a real mix this year – BA redemptions & BA holiday, plus BA for work mainly as I’m trying to avoid flying from Luton! Some leisure flights are now not BA when previously I would have defaulted to BA unless the price difference was substantial.

Once status goes, then it’s going to be down to price/airport. I too doubt that BA will notice my modest spend with them will be even more modest in the future.

With more devaluations, it’s getting easier to select flights – whatever is the cheapest and/or most convenient. No more spreadsheets trying to plot the accrual of points to achieve status. Quite liberating.

Were you redirected between the old and new sites? I’ve had some “fun” over the last week of trying to log in and bouncing between the different versions of the site, with one of them requesting the 2FA.

So, you want to book a package holiday but the only element of the package is a flight that gets you part of the way there?

@Misty – Yes, I’ve flown economy to Mauritius (with Air Mauritius) but that was 20 odd years ago when the budget would never stretch to anything more. 10-odd hours somewhat cramped was the price to be paid in order to spend out on the hotel for 2 weeks.

Upstairs is much smaller than the sprawling downstairs and has dedicated crew. 3 people occupying window, aisle and aisle shouldn’t be too bad and if you’re lucky you may not have anyone next to you. Obviously, the upstairs is more popular because it is a smaller cabin. Possibly the “worst” aspect is the ability to peer into the business bar, but not access it!

It’s certainly a way to get tier points. Whether it’s good is down to personal opinion. You’re effectively making a donation to a commercial company.

I believe flight-only and BAH are separate entities. As others have mentioned, adding a hotel to a flight does not make this a BAH and you wouldn’t get the additional benefits of it being a BAH, e.g. low deposit, ATOL protection etc. It seems it’s an agent trying to upsell accommodation.

Coupled with only having to pay a deposit, then the balance 4-6 weeks before, gives a lot of flexibility. The only potential downside, if you’re travelling economy, is that your fare bucket may result in the lowest tier points, which you won’t know until you’ve booked.

You will still retain silver to December 2025 if you have already reached the 600TP. To extend this to April 2026, you’ll need to earn 600TP between April 2024 and March 2025.

in reply to: Where can I use my 241 voucher?

You can use flightconnections and filter to a single airline to get a general view. I’d check any routes you are interested in on the airline’s own site after as it’s not 100% accurate (especially for seasonal routes)

in reply to: Where can I use my 241 voucher?
    129 posts

You can also use the voucher on Aer Lingus and Iberia.

Even if there are no direct flights to your chosen destination, you could always use the voucher for part of your journey. For example, LGW->BKK (return) before getting another flight to Vietnam

I’ve not transited to DXB from DOH, but have gone on to other destinations before. Turnaround time has sometimes been around the 1hr mark. It’s not been an issue assuming your flight lands on time, but if you’re on the same ticket, flights may be held for a while! DOH is big, so can be a long walk from one “spoke” to another.

It’s very unlikely the aircraft will be going onto your final destination (same as most of the passengers), so you’ll definitely be getting off.

I’ve previously managed to select seats as bronze through the Iberia app. It did show charges, but closing down the app before payment made the selection “stick”.

I think the answer for the OP is, “it depends”. The cost vs benefit is quite a personal thing depending on what you value.

in reply to: Credit to BAEC or Q Privilege, on a BA codeshare
    129 posts

That’s probably a “it depends” answer. For BA, with no status you will get 6 avios per £ spent. For Qatar, I believe it’s still based on distance, but the class of travel will also affect the number of avios, even in economy where you have comfort/classic/lite type options. Qatar has an avios calculator on their website. Worth doing some comparisons

Just to confirm, I fly the LHR/YYZ route almost weekly for work and I’ve always been offered a pre-departure champagne/sparkling wine so it’s not the norm to be in that situation.

Looks like the OP has been given duff information, or the crew are holding it back for a party later!

I’m not sure about it being illegal, but some don’t serve alcohol pre-departure due to alcoholic drinks being taxable whilst on the ground.
