Thanks for that. You’d think mid/back end Sept, there would be availability..50% of days blocked off, and then try find economy or business. What a waste of time. Thank goodness I haven’t got millions of their miles to get rid of. But thanks again.

Shame you spent £18,500 without checking. As you say AP only needs £10k for voucher…£28.5 total is one heck of a lot for a voucher !
Mikeact 337 posts
@AndrewT Please, don’t shut up !!
I have one voucher that is going to expire shortly, a city visit to Madrid, maybe, says my wife.
So, my itinerary looks like,
Ex UK on Iberia, Regular Avios for 2, down the back
Return. Mainline BA back, with voucher upgrade.Actually,if this were to work, with a call, I’m wondering what long haul IB/BA code shares destinations there are, to get red eye, mainline BA upgrade back.
Sorry, not explaining myself too well, just trying to figure out the best way back with voucher.
Please ignore if ridiculous !

So, it’s not a back door way for Delta to try and aquire the slots, albeit would then be foreign controlled ? Or repayment of pandemic ‘loans’ to Virgin ? Either way, knowing a little about the goings on with American carriers, I smell a rat.

As long, I believe, it is a total BA itinerary,(?), then you’re fine with the return. I tried last year with a BA code share AA to get back and was given the run around. Again, next time I might try a regular Avios redemption BA partner out, and try to book BA (Barclays) back on the same itinerary. Or maybe vice versa.

I have just about got over my heart attack, (not really!), but suffice to say, be prepared for total frustration. If you do a search you will find my earlier posts with recommendations. I’ve done two journeys and managed to get to Australia,(Business) but not using BA of course for that last segment.
If you are prepared to persevere, then it can be excellent value, but be prepared for possible hassle along the way, and keep calm! ie Leaving Australia via a Domestic connection, flight cancelled, alternative not acceptable to keep on track with the rest of the ticket, and then told ‘You’ll have to call BA in London to sort it.’ ‘What, it’s 3am over there !’
Eventually sorted, without me raising my voice…no point in getting angry, for something that was easily sorted. So much so, I went in search of a box of chocolates for her.
And the best of luck. Let us know how you get on.Mikeact 337 posts
Good luck with the return. Any West Coast return including Vancouver, are tough to get, Business or PE.
Two vouchers ? You should use both ,out and back, with BA.
Voucher 1 For you, out and back
Voucher 2 For partner out and back.
Coming back…Vancouver flights would be part of each voucher itinerary.

Offer ends July 31st.

Thanks. I might use my US address and see far I get. Just seems to be a dedicated credit card for certain airlines not running their own….but, Amex as well?

Thanks @JDB. Change of plan. I’ve now booked a one way on each voucher over to Santiago,Chile, luckily in CW, to pick up a cruise finishing back in Buenos Aires. I hope to find a suitable flight back from there to the UK, using the return halves, which I hope BA will add on. Thanks again for your input.

And don’t forget…one voucher is good for two people ,upgraded by one class, one way only ex UK.
To get back home, more Avios or cash.Alternatively, one person only for a return upgraded journey.
ps And good luck with the Far East or Australia. Flexibility with dates is probably key.

And my wife’s voucher has gone missing as well !

I was hoping to see a follow-up to my response above….what ‘handful’ of destinations ?
Mikeact 337 posts
There are plenty of destinations – long and short haul – where you can book the out and back at the same time and on the same ticket with no issues when using the Barclays voucher.
There are a handful of destinations where due to demand this isn’t possible but that’s not the fault of the voucher. So no it isn’t restricted just to short haul.
Are you able to list the ‘handful ‘ ?

Congratulations to me, this is my 100th post! Please send money or Avios, thanks.
That’s nothing on @NorthernLass – she has over 10K posts! 😀

Her other half runs the house, shopping, gardening, cleaning, ironing, washing up. I know how he feels…little time for posts !

All sounds like excellent news to me…more Avios availability….need a few more million to depart from BA to see the overall results.
Mikeact 337 posts
You’ll be fine. But can we stop talking about Curve. It helps no-one. Just find out first yourselves what works (then keep it to yourself).
+1 Too much information helps no one, only the card issuer
Mikeact 337 posts
According to the agent…’set up nominee….create
unique password ….call us to make the booking, assuming seats etc are available……we can immediately see both accounts with vouchers …and can make the booking/s in one go…debit the Avios….pay your dues…and confirm to you immediate confirmation, of two separate bookings. ‘Seems to me this saves having to run two devices,(or one device and being very quick,) one for each account, and without the risk of losing, ‘ 2xCW seats left’, etc.
He said you should be able to do it on line, but would be a lot easier to call.

Cheers, a 1st for HfP. ?!
Mikeact 337 posts
Thanks, but I think I caught something about wide open flights. Error or not, this is/was pretty important information which I was hoping to possibly take advantage of, but I guess all seats now gone.

It may have helped, to post Barclaycard questions, in the dedicated forum on here….next time.

Fair enough for the input. Regardless, Brighton council left with the problem.

Award Zones ? That goes back a bit in time….if only it were still that simple.
Mikeact 337 posts
I would, but he doesn’t know, popped up on an Aus site.

Thanks to both of you. Clarification may help one or two others on here….or maybe just me !
