Yes Apple TV has been working for weeks. You need to activate through the Barclays Premier App

All IB long haul business bookings come with 2x23kgs checked bag allowance. This can be higher depending on status/route, but that is the minimum.

    Great thank you! @Waffles1

Good evening. I was not invited to renew my RJ status when it expired last year and had an email saying my account was now inactive after no activity for 18 months.
However I did renew my husbands RJ status, as he did receive an invitation and received an email today to keep miles active since it had been 15 months of inactivity. My question is if we do nothing, will his account be deactivated? Was thinking of donating his 1000 miles to the King Hussein Cancer Foundation as mentioned in the email we received but not sure if having zero miles will also be a problem?
    Thanks in advance.

    @sm
    – The RJ account goes dormant after 18 months of non-activity, this will expire your miles (but honestly they’re not worth much anyway). The account will automatically reactivate once you do some activity such as posting a flight. I do not know if miles donation counts as an activity I’m afraid

@waffles1 and @titaniumostrich – just had a look at a work booking on Iberia. They unhelpfully put in my work mobile and e-mail. I have put my RJ# into the bookings and my name matches, but I’m worried about chasing retro-credit with different info. Do you have any experience here?

Regarding, “I wonder if this is part of a possible move to remove the segment count from being used to gain status?” <– I most certainly hope not (!)

Great advice and thank you both! Will report back in May with my findings…

I’m definitely going for Platinum Hawk, but my plan was do a run up to Golden Sparrow and then just fly regularly to hit PH. I guess it should take me 6-7 months to do the additional 16 sectors.

Am I correct in thinking that I will get PH for 2 years from the date of my last qualifying flight?

Thank you @titaniumostrich. That’s super great to know. I’ll focus my flying there!

If anyone is interested in doing an Iberia / Air Nostrum segment run I’ve had great success using Edreams (I know I know we shouldn’t use an OTA) with flights going through Valencia and the Balearics for about 15gbp/flight. This can get you Golden Sparrow (OW Sapphire) for less than 500GBP and give BA and their 7,500GBP for the same status a huge miss

Thank you @Waffles1 very helpful. I’m planning on having to (politely) fight, and will just keep all paper boarding passes and a spreadsheet. I’ll do my run at the end of April when my BA silver finally drops to bronze. Adding 7 weeks will get me to middle of June, which isn’t terrible all things considered. All my flights have IB mainline numbers, but some are operated by Air Nostrum (to Balearics) and IB Express (LGW & MAN).

@tootsci – Thanks so much for the info. Please let us know if the PMI flight credits without too much fuss. If MAD to BCN shuttle works better as in your example I may shift some of my flights to that route as it is doable though more expensive than the VLC to IBZ to PMI Air Nostrum dance.

Could any Golden Sparrows or Platinum Hawks please let me know if they were successfully about to book exit row seats on American Airlines using their RJ status?

    @jonr405
Yeah my gold sparrow status worked. I was able to choose Main Cabin Extra (including exit row) for free for my upcoming return transatlantic flights and the connection domestic flights online, right after I input my FQTV into my AA booking. Now I’m silver, the free seats I’ve chosen are still there but it’s not free to move to a different seat anymore.

Amazing! Thank you so much for the data point 🙂

Hello Royal Birds of various colours.

Could any Golden Sparrows or Platinum Hawks please let me know if they were successfully about to book exit row seats on American Airlines using their RJ status? Also if they were able to enter the AA lounges? I’m planning to do a run for PH, but if RJ doesn’t play well with AA and to a lesser extent AS it wouldn’t be hugely useful to me.

    Thank you!

I assume you are looking for LATAM with avios? They release in 2 waves. Usually about 10 months before departure and then again may 6 weeks before depending on demand. It used to be quite obvious as all flights would show seats in the 1st wave for about a week before they pulled all the demand at midnight Brazil time. So my advice is to check dates around 10 months out and then calculate how many days (approx) it’ll be until your preferred date comes within range. If you have already missed the 1st wave, I suggest you fly to Madrid and connect to FRA. It will also be much cheaper vs. LATAM when booking with Avios

Thanks. This looks like it was done deliberately to catch people out that wanted the 20% bonus.

When it’s AA (or whoever) metal and on the day it goes pear shaped and they rebook you with an AA flight number instead of a BA codeshare.

Not a normal booking scenario of course, but I’m currently missing over 5K TP and Gold status because of that.

    Keep fighting!

All of this is mute. The Tokyo IB flight gets into Madrid at 8pm, too late to connect to any LHR service on BA/IB. I had this same issue as I booked this.

The only way to connect same day is on Ryanair (10:45pm), so will require a terminal change on separate tickets.

I personally despise Ryanair, so would recommend the OP book an overnight hotel in Madrid

Ah OK thanks for letting me know. I’ll have a dig around for other data points. I really need another OneWorld program to get into US lounges now that BA is going spend based, but luckily I’ll have status until April 2026. One year to figure out if RJ works.

If anyone else has successfully used their RJ status on American Airlines lounges please let me know here.

    Thank you!

I’ve finally been able to select preferred seating for our Alaska Airlines flight tomorrow. Hopefully I’ll get the other perks at the airport.

Hi to you (and Tontoro) – any luck using your RJ status at AS/AA lounges when traveling on a fully domestic intinerary? I care less about the bags and seats given my US flights are usually HBO, but it would be nice to know if those issues have also been resolved?

I’m considering switching to RJ from BA, but will probably do Iberia if it is going to be a pain to use the benefits on the US carriers.

    Thank you for your help

Ever since sitting in a hotel watching ‘Up in the Air’ and realising I was doing it all wrong!

    BA/IAG celebrating record profits –

It’s that part of the business cycle we are in. Airline profits usually peak just before the recession hits. Airlines typically devalue when demand is very strong.
Then sh1t hits the fan and BA will run discounts on Avios and bonus tier points to prop up demand.

100% agree we are at the top of airline profits. Can’t wait for IAG to come undone in the next recession. Serves them right for being so greedy now at the expense of loyal customers

Old TP approx 2£/TP (based on previous mileage runs) so 200 avios assuming you value avios at 1p. Gold is then “worth” £3k and silver £1.2k

New TPs BA seems to think gold is “worth” 20-25k and silver £7.5-10k, so 7-9x the cost, which clearly illustrates why I’m done with BA loyalty

Just made a purchase for £250 on AMEX travel with my business platinum card.

How long does the credit usually take to post? Customer service said 30-60 days, but hoping it’ll be faster than that…

Have this on my Business gold card… Anyone know if the saved offers transfer over to the new card? I’d hate to miss out on them and would help me hit my new spending target.
