Thanks both, I will sit tight for a few more weeks and see what happens.

Not had issues with identity check but tried to setup Apple TV+ on a premier account and got prompted to signup for Blue Rewards – which I did. Now that I read more about it, I don’t think I should have been allowed to signup for Blue Rewards under the Premier account as it shows £5pm when it should be free. Has anyone had any experiences with this? Should I have waited for it to be added behind the scenes and how can I sort it?
Contact barclays on twitter and will sort it out for you
Thanks, that’s exactly what I did. Although the chap was only able to cancel the Blue Rewards and said the Apple TV+ should show up at some point and the rest of account features may take up to 10 days to become fully functional.

23rd October 2025 at 16:23 in reply to: Barclays Premier £400 switching bonus. Does this work with their Avios account?iEimis 100 posts
I signed up for a Premier account at lunchtime today and have initiated a current account switch with my main current account which completes on 30th October. Will report back but would expect to get the £400 bonus and the Avios!
Can you let me know exactly what steps you have taken? I opened the Barclays account yesterday, was approved but not initiated the switch yet (have an important payment coming out in the next week so don’t want to mess anything up). As I understand it, you have to enrol into Avios rewards, would just be a little vary of forfeiting the £400 offer before the switch completes as that can take up to 30 days to pay out, I believe.

I stayed at Crowne Plaza in 2023 during Formula 1 from Thursday until Monday and paid 71000 points. Probably the best value redemption I had ever achieved with IHG and needless to say the following year in 2024, the points pricing was 180k per night. It was a great experience and lots of attention to detail, little things here and there that were F1 themed. I have also met Charles Leclerc multiple times during the stay as that was where he was staying, too. Interesting to see what happens to the other properties and if there’s ever an opportunity to get a good redemption again.

Not been having a good time with hotel offers lately. Hilton hasn’t worked. IHG has eventually tracked and paid out. Melia was booked last week and no sign of credit yet. Both transaction show Palma though despite not being Palma. Judging by someone’s post above, this could be a problem. It was the hotel in Kensington and White House.

The OP says “Pre-Booked” as opposed to “Pre-Paid” so it’s not clear what the rate booked and consumed was, a key bit of information.
@iEimis what rate did you pre-book? If it was an advanced ‘non-refundable’ rate, although most hotels process these payments at the hotel anyway thus normally circumventing this term, you have likely found one of the few hotels who process it centrally with a different merchant ID and will not be eligible for the offer as per it’s terms. If you pre-booked a flexible rate that is payable on checkout, you should pursue the cashback.
Pre-paid non refundable rate one of which was completed this week and the other which is due in a couple weeks. I think you are correct, one of the transactions shows ‘Reed Crescent’ and the other shows the correct hotel name.

Yes, always very clear the Hilton offers are for payments at the hotel only. Non pre-paid stays are normally processed on the day of checkout.
Usually you also get the credit on prepaid stays or when you ask the hotel to make the payment ahead of time, but there is no guarantee and, naturally, no recourse (unless you want to defraud Amex and claim the payment was made at the hotel).Yes, although it used to work on pre paid stays as well. I guess my argument is that unless you book (usually significantly more expensive) flexible rate, Hilton will charge you almost immediately for non refundable stays.

I had the vouchers available as I just booked a hotel stay 3 weeks ago. Came to do another booking as there are some good rates available in London and I can’t see any vouchers on mine and my supplementary card holder’s account either. Anyone else having the issue still?

Spend £1500 or more at Bvlgari, collect 37500 MR points once per card showing on my Amex Plat this morning.

I have found myself in the same predicament a couple of months ago and was immediately unable to use fronted. I contacted cs and it took around 4 weeks to get a debit card re-issued, had to sign a disclaimer for them to ‘temporarily pause my credit agreement’. Not that I remember ever signing up to an agreement.

I am curious if anyone has experience of whether the prices ever come down? I am looking at a flight from Miami next month and one particular flight which works well for me time wise, is the only one that costs 41000 points. Everything else either side of a week is 13500. The flight I want cash wise is actually cheaper than the other flight that day which is 13500 as well but it has me landing at noon in Heathrow and doesn’t really work due to other commitments. Curious if the 41000 points flight is ever likely to come down or if it’s only up from here.

Thank you both. The terms do state once per card, I guess I wouldn’t have a leg to stand on if it only did pay out once.

I am with Intelligent Octopus Go and using just the slow charger. In practice this means that in addition to the cheap tariff overnight, I am also given plenty of slots throughout the day that give the entire household electricity at 7p per kWh. My average cost per unit has been sitting around 12p over the last few months.

1 year and 1 day since last retention offer. 50k points offered again immediately. Circa £50k spend on the card in the last year.

I booked it for my sister, wasn’t a problem.

So I thought I was capped out at 90k, however, the points randomly posted yesterday after around 2 weeks since successful referral. Except I received 12k rather than 18k even though it says UK MGM Referral Bonus 18k. Not sure if I should query this or let it be as I do imagine 12k did take me to the cap.

I referred a friend last week as well for the same 100k offer, and indeed, in the past the points would appear as soon as the card was shipped/activated. In my case, however, I actually think that I might have hit the 90k limit. I had a few referrals earlier in the year which gave me 3 points per £1 as well, I suspect that has counted towards it as I made very good use of it and it did end at some point a little prematurely I thought, as it was meant to be for 90 days.

Lots of designer offers (i.e Roberto Cavalli 20% back every time up to £250) and then Co Op £5 back on £25 spend, limited to 5555 saves which is interesting.
24th June 2024 at 17:46 in reply to: Amex offers – Google Store cashback and trade-in credit.iEimis 100 posts
Yeah I only had a positive experience with Google trade in. Once I was paid more as it was in a better condition than expected. Second time I chanced an old iPhone with a small crack in camera lens and they paid full value as well.
To answer the original OP question, on both of the above I got to keep Amex cashback as I think they refund the trade in as a different transaction rather than the original one (reference number would certainly suggest that). If nothing changed since early Feb then I’d say you would be fine.

A family member cancelled after taking out the Plat at the end of last year for the sign up bonus. The 10K spend target was reached, and a couple of weeks later after asking to cancel, they were offered 50MR points to stay.
On the other hand, I asked about cancelling and was my loyalty was thanked and they said they could downgrade me. Not surprising as I’ve hardly put any spend through it of late. I’m tempted to just cancel all together and re-start the cycle.
It’s quite funny how thick Amex seems to be. They see spending so offer a retention seemingly without realising that the higher recent spend was to reach a SUB so they pay the cardholder twice. Great for the recipient, rubbish for all the other cardholders who subsidise the MR confetti.
Exactly that. Makes me think I should have asked for the retention immediately after hitting £10k spend in late October as opposed to waiting until late Jan for when I was truly considering cancelling for a pro-rata refund. Maybe they would have offered 75k instead, lol.

Have a situation where me and my friend were supposed to travel together to HK tomorrow. The Hotel was booked using my Amex Platinum and is non-refundable. Unfortunately, he became ill on Monday to the point where he doesn’t think he will be fit to travel tomorrow. I am still intending to travel, however, I suspect in the eyes of the insurance there is no way to get a partial refund on the hotel for him, since Amex Platinum only covers immediate family as well. Is this something that he would likely be able to claim through his insurance for half the cost of the hotel rate?
You should be covered if you abandoned your trip owing to the illness of your travelling companion.
I don’t fully understand the question although if the question is that you were planning to share the cost of the room and now you will have to pay the whole cost, will the insurer pay your friend’s half – hmm!
I would note also that your friend hasn’t apparently suffered any loss for an insurer to compensate.
Thanks. Yeah it was quite clear that if I was to abandon the trip, then the cost would be covered. I guess my question was, given that I paid on the card for the whole room but my friend may not be able to travel – was it possible to claim half of the hotel cost (to help him out really), however, in the eyes of the insurer since it’s a single room booking – technically I am not losing anything, which makes sense, but thought it was worth an ask.
