Thanks John, appreciate you putting that response together. Makes sense.

so yes, i did get the benefit of Diamond status of these “wasted” nights, but had I known the full picture I would have almost certainly put these the way of Marriott.

I suspect the Hilton diamond status is going to end next year. 42 nights is manageable at a push this year, but scoring 60 next year will be out of reach.

Another benefit you will have achieved is the ability to gift someone else Gold status. Not sure if that means much for your circumstances but could soften the blow a little!

I stayed at both the DoubleTree and the Susona (LXR) resorts in Bodrum last year and would highly recommend the Susona. It was off season in April and we were upgraded to a huge suite with a private pool. It’s not all inclusive but I preferred that to be honest, the restaurants were good quality and reasonably priced anyway.

Sorry just to clarify, my ‘nope’ above means there are no restrictions on purchased points!

Nope – did it from my wife’s account earlier this year as I had already hit my purchase limit.

Update – my diamond code came through now, but scouring through my past emails I couldn’t find any gold code… Will need to reach out to Hilton for that one separately

Does anyone know how or when I can expect the gifting codes to come through? I just hit 70 nights for 2022 and was at 40 much earlier this year, but never received anything (or in the last 3 years of qualifying for that matter!).

Thanks all. I’m not too bothered if room 1 doesn’t post, I was more concerned they both might get zeroed. All good if at least one room posts correctly since it will land me the nice milestone bonus.

“Sorry, it might seem like we have space but we’re expecting a lot of business class travellers soon”

This is pretty much the default response to any pass holder in MAN

Any tips for longer rentals? Looking to book for around 30 days (!) in the UAE during the world cup and Hertz doesn’t seem to have availability anywhere.

Sorry if this has been asked before but does spend on the account (via the gold) while waiting for the new plat card to arrive count towards £4k spend target? Plat isn’t due to arrive until next week and I have a large purchase to make beforehand.

    Yes immediately

Amazing, thanks. Does this also mean that I could trigger the dining credit by paying with my gold card? Offer isn’t there yet but assuming I ask Amex chat to manually add the offer to my account.

You have to wait for the offer to be added.

I have the offers saved now, just don’t have the physical card yet.

Using my gold card in the meantime should trigger the offers right? Amex CS don’t seem to think so but they don’t have a clue sometimes.

I have the offers added now, but Amex CS seem to think spending on my gold card won’t trigger them. They don’t have a clue sometimes though.

Yep, can confirm that also got a deliveroo credit after upgrade.

Is it still working or did it eventually get removed?

Back to the question, and yes it’s back in operation but no, not as good – no self service managers reception, you get served one appetiser and very little in self serve drinks.

Still a nice lounge to use during the day with coffee machine etc.

Just completed my stay and agree with your comments. I didn’t mind the table service appetisers (beats the shoddy self-service snacks I have seen before).

Not busy at all (on a non-event weekend) so it was a nice place to work for a couple of hours during the day.

I received a 20k retention offer via chat today. Held the gold card since 2016 if that helps – the chat agent certainly made it seem like that was the only reason I was given this ‘exclusive offer’ 😅

Is it cheeky to use the Plat upgrade offer shortly after they post?

Quite a few luxury resorts popping up across the Middle East if that’s your thing. Aside from the usual WA’s in the UAE I noticed reasonably good points value for island resorts and desert retreats across Qatar and KSA – obviously all artificial though so might not be to everyones taste.

in reply to: Linking my Hilton account to another Amex account

I’ve always had issues with this from on the Amex side when I tried with Mrs HJ’s card.

Hilton allows points transfers for free so the way we do it is for Mrs H to create a Honors account, transfer her MR points there as normal, then transfer the points from her Honors account to mine.

Might take a few days the first time you do it.

No @HJ: once again : you can always look at Flyertalk, it’s not required to sign up there if you are just searching something. No requirement to sign up at all (I tested it before I wrote that as I wanted to be sure my recollection was true). I have no doubt @John found it as quickly as you would have as Flyertalk is a very well-organised site.

So No, you didn’t do #2, as you’d have known this if you had, actually, tried.

Read my reply again. I know you can browse FT without an account but you can’t comment, and the last update there was nearly 6 months ago.

In any case, if it isn’t a duplicate thread within the same forum then surely it’s fair game. If you disagree and it offends you so much, simply ignore it 🙂

Removed the link I found most useful (opposite of “many miles all at once”) because it’s to another (rival ?) site and I don’t want to breach any etiquette rules.

    Few kilometers none together?

@HJ my wife’s gold offers (saved & unsaved) did transfer when she did the upgrade last month, but it sounds as though you may be safer to wait a few days to be sure. Everything in the app stayed the same except the card colour – same card number, transactions just roll on etc. but metal card arrives in post. One thing people have mentioned is that if you have supplementary cardholders, the first gets added automatically so you wouldn’t have the opportunity of points for adding one. May be worth removing supps (but only 1 free now on Plat) now then adding after upgrade.

Ah that’s good to know, think I’ll wait until the weekend just to be safe.

Thanks for the heads up on the supp, I’ll need to quickly remove Mrs H then…

Er… you don’t have to sign up to an account on Flyertalk, in order to read it @HJ.

    Your options were:-

    (1) Quick search on HfP. Just in case anyone had previously posted this highly specific piece of information about this particular non-Central London, non-airport hotel.

    (2) Look on Flyertalk which is excellently organised and allows specifics to be found really quickly. As @John did for you. Which was kind of him.

    (3) Call the hotel.

    (4) Post on HfP. It will take longer than the above and involve more effort by more people. But you’re welcome.

    <<toys out of pram>>

I did both suggestion 1 and 2 and didn’t find what I was after, so my options were to i) create a FT account and ask for an updated review there or ii) use my existing HfP account to ask the more relevant audience here.

Didn’t expect to receive not one, but two, passive aggressive replies instead!

I’m in the same situation but due to travel in ~2 weeks. Would my current unpaid bill on the Gold (~£3000 and due next month) count towards the spending target for plat if paid once the new card arrives?

It should be fairly self evident that spend incurred on the gold card prior to the upgrade will not count towards the Platinum SUB and that when you pay your bill for old charges is also irrelevant for the SUB.

Ha yes thought so, wishful thinking on my part!

I’m assuming any saved offers won’t be transferred across too – I have a Hilton stay this weekend to trigger £50 off offer on the Gold, so will need to activate the plat shortly after that.

Your question is answered on Flyertalk (in May 2022 it was open 10am to 8pm) and the most recent review on Tripadvisor as of today (the lounge is currently crap / not as good as pre-covid). These should be the first ports of call for questions about Hiltons

Appreciate the pointer but I don’t have an FT account and don’t intend to create one when I’m perfectly happy with the forums at HfP.

Surely you aren’t suggesting to review all external forums and other sources of information before opening discussions here, are you?

If that were the case, 90% of the content raised in threads here would be irrelevant.
