So if we value an Amex point at 1p (converting to Avios etc), they are devaluing the benefits massively!!
£12,000 worth of Avios V £400 travel credit. I thought it would be at least £600!!

    £1,200 not £12,000

    Oops, fat fingers!!

Received the same. Bye Amex Gold business Card. I expect the Business Platinum benefits to be similarly curtailed.

I checked a 5 night sailing (Dominican Daze) for 26/9 this year. Cash price for a central sea terrace is £2082. Points required are 390,000.
Looks like .005p value per point. I’ll give it a miss

I’m getting the 115,000 at $1180 as well. Only got 9 nights in this year and 7k points.
Valuing the points at 0.04 it would cost me around £470 net to keep diamond. Not worth it in my view

There appears to be some substantial improvements on points/pounds cost of redemptions if you’re flexible with dates. From what I’m seeing so far, I’m happy!

Can you quote some examples with dates

I phoned last week (week before renewal) and said I wasn’t gettting value for money from the card. Agent offered 75,000 without any further pushing which I accepted..

    33 posts

I just asked over chat if there were any retention offers, as I believed the increased costs over the last few years have made the card less attractive. Within a couple of minutes they come back with an offer of 75,000 points. I couldn’t be bothered pushing for any more so accepted it!

Lol I think this is pretty much the max, 35k, 50k, or 75k. Assume you never had a retention offer prior?

I ask them for a renewal offer every year at this time. I think it was 40,000 points last year

I’m joining the ship in Athens in a few weeks and have watched quite a few reviews on Youtube. The food is always rated highly, along with the entertainment, but I haven’t seen one positive review about the pool. I think they made a major snafu with the design. If its very busy when only at 40% capacity, imagine it at 80 – 90% (which I’m sure will be the case when I get on lol).

Any updates on those told to contact IHG for the missing points and free night voucher? I’m getting nowhere with IHG

For the 2 posters above – It took 3-4 days for Virgin to confirm my status match from MSC. Same for my GF who tried it a couple of weeks ago.

As for evidence, they just ask you to fill in the form, and attach a pic – I just took a screenshot of the Gold Card from the MSC email with my name and MSC number clearly shown.

Thanks for this. I’ll give them a couple more days before I chase

What evidence did you need to prove and get the Deep Blue Extras?
    Letter or Photo?

I just sent a screenshot of my MSC account showing Diamond Status. Not had any response as yet.

    VV for Beginners??

Hi – I was wondering if anyone would be so kind as to share a few hints and tips for VV Virgins like myself. I’m travelling on Greek Island Glow on 20/8 and it’s my first cruise so I feel like I don’t have a clue how to prep (as a frequent flier this just feels wrong to me!!). I have done the status match to get Deep Blue Extras and have linked booking for the free fizz but I now have a few questions re how to make the best of the trip…
1- Restaurant, entertainment bookings open tomorrow – is it advisable to prebook much or can you play it by ear nearer the time (when you know what your days will look like). Are there things that are particularly busy that it’s best to get in early on?
2 – day trips – I’m a pretty independent traveler so would likely prefer to just do my own thing during the day – how viable is this?
3 – embarkation – is there a benefit from getting there early and onboard to spend the day chilling in Athens? And is the DBE queue just a kind of fast track?
4 – upgrades – interesting but still punchy considering the cruise was so cheap! – any experience of these appreciated – e.g. do people just bid base level and how successful is this? I’m also wondering about just waiting until on the day and asking at check in?
5 – Richards Rooftop – is it any good? Have seen mixed reviews tbh
6 – prep – anything else it’s good to do up front?

Thanks so much guys – super excited about this!

Can I ask how long it took for the status match to be confirmed? I applied last Friday but have heard nothing back

For those who did the status match with MSC, how long did it take for Virgin to confirm?

Evening all. Managed to snag 2 vouchers and looking to use for 4 passengers on cruise from Athens on 20/8. Would it be best making 2 seperate bookings to take advantage of the referrals?

Yes if you want a free bottle of Cava per cabin.

My cousin failed to use my link to book so spoke to VV today to see if they would link the 2 bookings for the free Cava but the agent said it’s not available on access key bookings 🙁

    Has the deal expired?

Looks like it has been pulled. Keep checking though because they randomly come back

    Update!

After my card was closed in Dec 2020, I compalined about not receiving 15,000 + points. My claim was denied and I never followed through with the ombudsman. However, I updated my original complaint on 19th April adding that I had not received the free night voucher and a pro rata refund. Creation have come back to me today agreeing to all 3 elements of the complaint. Glad, after advice from the good folks on here, that I went back at them after giving up hope in 2021.

Hi folks. I made a complaint to Creation about the closure of my account that was not upheld. I received the final letter from them in May 2022. Due to one thing and another I never got around to filing a complaint to the ombudsman. They still owe me over 15,000 IHG points.

I’m sure I read somewhere here that I could modify the original complaint. Could I do that by adding that I never received the free night certificate, despite spending over the threshold, and never got a pro rata refund on the fee. They only mention the transferrel of points on the complaint as below.

My understanding of the complaint is that you are unhappy with the following:
 IHG points earnt not being transferred

    Any help would be appreciated.

As someone caught up in the Curve snafu I’m glad Creation are pulling out. Totally useless company. Hopefully another financial institution picks up the baton. Any rumours Rob?

    My money is on chase

    Fingers crossed
