Thanks to this thread I checked all my bookings and my next flight doesn’t appear to be ticketed! I did notice that Award Wallet picks up the 125- ticket number if that helps anyone.

BA are offering me a flight back from Berlin on Thursday evening. There are flights today with KLM via Amsterdam or SAS via Copenhagen. Phone lines aren’t open yet. Do I have to give BA the chance to book me and only book myself when they refuse? There are train options but limited Eurostar availability. Any advice?

I’m having similar issues – trying to get some sun 7 or 8 to 14 or 15 October. Seatspy (and BA RFF) showing lots of options (TCI, ACE, FAO, AGP, MLA, HER, JTR, DLM). I queried with Seatspy – they are going off RFF so problem is with BA.

The investigator of my complaint with the FOS has concluded that Creation should pay me £100 in compensation for their handling of the matter. I’ve already had my free night and points.

That’s interesting because my Investigator refused to make a recommendation for Creation to compensate me!
I rejected the offer (not because of the lack of compensation, I hasten to make clear) and my case is now going to an Ombudsman!

My claims handler suggested £150. Creation appealed. Claims handler then withdrew it. Escalated to ombudsman who sided with Creation. I think its poor from FOS that they don’t penalise the regulated organisation for dragging their feet and being forced to do the right thing and there is no penalty on top for not acting fairly. Also, I spent a lot of time on this with multiple chasing and escalation.

Has anyone received the pro rata refund of the annual fee?

    Hi
This is my exact situation. My Diamond status expires on 31 Dec 2022. If I purchase the intercontinental Ambassador stutus will the IHG Diamond get extended?
The last person for who it worked on here was back in June. Wanted to know if anyone has done this recently please. Thanks

Worked to extend my diamond to end of 2023. Don’t try to pay by Curve, though

Just tried to do this (before reading this message!). Payment failed according to the website but confirmed as paid by Curve and underlying card. I’m emailed them. I hope they sort this out before year end and the Diamond status gets extended.

My wife has just received a letter reducing her limit on this card from £4500 to £100 i.e. effectively cancelling it. The web site says that it will not be increased under any circumstances. She rarely uses it, but there is currently a statement credit offer on Laithwaites for 25% if spending £110+!
    Has anyone else had this?

I’m surprised the banks don’t do this sort of thing more often for very unprofitable cards. That said, they are known to slash limits on rarely used cards occasionally.

Pay £10 in from your bank account. You can then spend £110.

I got a reply from the FO. Is this what everyone else is getting? >>

I’m sorry it’s been a while since you’ve heard from us. Your complaint is currently waiting to be allocated to an investigator. I know you’ve been waiting some time and I want to thank you for your patience.

We’ve been in contact with Creation to get the information we need to investigate your complaint. Generally speaking, businesses can choose who they want to provide financial services to. Providing they close an account in line with the terms and conditions, we wouldn’t necessarily say they acted unfairly.

But we understand sometimes an account closure can have other impacts, such as no longer having the benefits you had as part of your account. So, we want to be satisfied the actions Creation took were reasonable, they treated you fairly, and that they followed their statutory, regulatory and legal obligations correctly.

I also got this after escalating (essentially raising a complaint about FOS):

“If you’re still unhappy with the service we’ve given you, you can contact the Independent Assessor, Dame Gillian Guy. The Independent Assessor will usually only review the service we’ve provided once a case has been closed. You have one month from then to refer your complaint to her.

A case closes once an ombudsman’s decision has been issued, the parties accept the findings of the case handler or the complainant decides not to take the case against the financial business any further. You’ll need to contact her directly, as we can’t refer a complaint for you.

You can find the Independent Assessor’s terms of reference here. She can investigate the level of service we’ve provided. But she can’t comment on – or change – the outcome of the complaint about Creation Financial Services Limited.

You can email Dame Gillian at independent.assessor@financial-ombudsman.org.uk or write to The Independent Assessor, PO Box 35738, London, E14 9YU.”

No charge of flight number. Just takes off 5 min earlier.

You do need to accept the “changes” before being able to check the booking (change seats etc.) and a link is provided to your rights as a passenger as if it was a much bigger issue.

I have seen in the past these 5-10 min changes in schedule and accepted them but never tried to use them as an excuse to change the booking. That is why I was asking if anyone ever had.

Change of flight number is a cancellation (of the old flight) so you can request a refund without penalty.

    – I will be booking points stays either side of the Ambassador nights – are they likely to honour the higher category room for all 4 nights?

I was hoping for this at Kimpton Fitzroy last year. I got a call from the manager a few days after booking asking if I’d like to pay for the upgrade (standard room to suite) or move rooms. I was quoted more than the cash difference between the two rooms to upgrade. When I questioned this I was told they could charge what they liked! I stayed at The Savoy instead.

You also have to phone to book now (apparently). I booked online and phoned to get the voucher added retrospectively. They initially said no but eventually cancelled and rebooked without issue but warned they wouldn’t do it again.

You’ll need to do a bit of trial an error, once you find one keep it to yourself and it’ll be worth the few cash advance fees you might incur in the process of finding the golden goose.

If anyone does know one, please don’t discuss it openly, look what happened to the Creation cards.

Perhaps people can list cards that definitely do charge a cash fee and / or interest? That would save Crafty, and others, from opening new credit accounts to only be disappointed.
