I’ve recently status matched my Hilton Gold status with Kenya airlines to Kenya gold elite plus (Skyteam elite plus) with a view to using it for lounge access for me and my partner. I’m flying Virgin and Delta this year as a Silver flying club member. Can someone please advise what I need to do to access lounges. Do I need to show status proof at check in? Thanks
The T3 VS Clubhouse doesn’t allow entry to elite SkyTeam members, only a very few select partner airline elite members have access, Kenya Airlines isn’t one of those, VS Silver doesn’t give lounge access unless you’re flying in a cabin that includes it already

Sorry I didnt clarify, I’ll mainly be flying out of Manchester so thought with the Skyteam Elite Plus I would be able to access the 1903 lounge in T2 with my partner.
It’s not too clear, with Kenya Airways Gold, you should be able to gain access to most SkyTeam Business Class lounges, check Delta’s website for further clarification, VS are somewhat vague on access to 1903 lounge at Manchester T2 airport for SkyTeam elites on their flights…

Thanks Jonathan much appreciated.
This has everything:
https://www.skyteam.com/en/frequent-flyers/I am Virgin gold. I flew business class on KLM on a VS codeshare to Amsterdam last week. I hoped to be able to use the 1903 lounge at Manchester which IMO is preferable to the Escape Lounge. However, I was advised that I could only access the lounge, using my gold status if I was on Virgin metal. It was irrelevant that my flight started with VS. I was offered the Escape Lounge for flying business with KLM but decided not to bother. Hopefully, with your status and flying on Virgin metal you should be okay accessing the 1903 Lounge. I flew back from LAX and used the Delta One lounge which I liked. The fast track security was a good perk. We were through in one minute. Only 2 of us, outnumbered by the 5 staff.
The SkyTeam page I found said that gold members on AF and KLM can use the 1903 lounge (or possibly Escape if with children)?
Thanks everyone. I might give Virgin a call to clarify. I can see in my booking with Virgin I can replace my flying club number with my Kenya airways reward details, which would then hopefully pass through to the boarding card. Would I still receive tier points? as I have currently have just enough flights booked to retain silver.
You’ll need to have your Kenya Airways Gold account attached to gain lounge access, so unless you change the ff program whilst you’re in the lounge, you won’t earn tier points for your VSFC account from the flights.

Northern Lass, that’s what I was hoping for and tried for. I didn’t have any children with me. I was just travelling with my sister. The person at the lounge check in was adamant that my gold Virgin status only gave me 1903 access if I was flying on Virgin metal. She said it didn’t matter that KLM was in the same group, it had to be Virgin. If I’d found information on the Sky Team page to contradict what she told me, I would have tried harder. To be honest, I did try the Escape lounge for 5 minutes. I walked out again after I found mould on the bread roll and the member of staff just shrugged. I only wanted a piece of toast for breakfast but they don’t even have that in the Escape lounge.
I know, how can you not have toast at breakfast?! I won’t hold out much hope then if I do end up booking AF to Paris later this year then.
The lounge dragons at MAN are regularly wrong. They base their lives on the operating airline, irrespective of anything else. KL doesn’t pay for 1903, yet VS does. They have a red folder behind the desk that, if you can convince them to get it out, will explain the actual rules to them. In your case, you could have used the 1903 lounge, but I appreciate you don’t want the hassle with the desk staff.
But most of the time, there’s a queue, and it isn’t worth the hassle. And, frankly, 1903’s not too brilliant anyway, at the end of the day. I now skip lounges at MAN, and am straight – via Pot Kettle Black – on to the aircraft. Often with the coffee, much to the chagrin of the idiots at Skytanking who try to stop me boarding with a drink I have bought in the terminal for no other reason than “you didn’t buy it from KLM”.
1903 is light years ahead of Escape for breakfast. Table service perfect poached eggs with avocado on toast and a G & T, v mouldy bread rolls in Escape! I’ll be asking to look at that red folder. Fortunately though, I am actually on VS metal in UC in April, so won’t have to quibble!
Boarding a Ryanair flight a couple of years ago they wouldn’t let us bring coffee on due to “health and safety”. Then proceeded to sell coffee and other hot beverages, of course.

Oh, don’t be so sure – I’m LT Gold on VS, and have had to quibble a few times, even in Upper.

Skytanking, when acting as handlers, are notorious for this crap.
@AL, what, they wouldn’t let you in 1903?
This discussion is making me realise how poorly BA treats its elites at outstations. If I ever pay cash again for a CW return starting at MAN I’ll be pretty annoyed to be crammed into Escape with mouldy bread which can’t even be toasted!
