Happy New Year from the Indigo in Bath. A very pleasant hotel well located for the station and city centre. Everything is a short walk away. The make a rather good Negroni too!
Noted this morning that all my IHG status trackers reset to zero for the new year😱 but status for 2026 lags behind which is normal.
Status change only matters if you’re due to drop down. Mine is a comfy 31/12/26.
My first score on the door will be Saturday after I checked out today.

I have re-qualified via points but status shows till 31/12/25 only, no doubt it will update soon.
@Paul – I have already re-qualified with stays, but app still shows status until 31/12/25. I’ve got a stay next week – I hope I still get Diamond benefits.
From last year I think the old status hangs around until well into January. I have a stay commencing the 13th but I’ve successfully used a CSU so happy with that and may not bother renewing Platinum via Ambassador until just before our Edinburgh trip towards the end of Feb.
@NorthernLass just remember that if paying cash to renew ambassador that you don’t get the 40,000 points if there is a significant break. I found that out to my detriments last year!
I’m looking at foregoing Ambassador this year. Three IC stays in the last month and all three paid me off with 10,000 points rather than an upgrade to a room I could see was available. To be fair, it would have been a significant upgrade on each occasion, but a bit annoying to be 0 from 3.
@Paul – it was only ever 15k points for renewing, 40k is the alternative cost to the $225. I actually let my Ambassador lapse in 2024 as we weren’t getting value from it and OH still had his until a few months ago, so I think that ship has sailed for me! Of course as soon as I renew, IHG will announce some sort of offer, lol.
@phantomchickenz, are you able to name the properties? Some do have quite stingy upgrade provision in their Ts and Cs – IIRC the IC O2 says they are never going to upgrade you beyond a 1 bedroom suite so forget about anything better, basically. If you book via Emyr you get his benefits on top of the Ambassador ones and they’re obliged to give you an upgrade unless there’s really nothing available. I realise this doesn’t help if you want to use the railcard or free weekend night rate!My New Years Eve stay posted this morning so my 2026 tally has commenced!
Was that a single night or more than one? I would have expected New Years Eve to go in to 2025.
I know the checkout date would be 2026, but with promotions it’s the night(s) stayed that count not the checkout date.
Yes it was a single night and the T&Cs say a stay ending on the 1st would credit to the new year.
Can’t say what would happen if it had been a longer stay though.
Thanks for clarifying, glad I reached my 70 nights a few days before and didn’t sucker myself by leaving it until NYE!
Yeah this is normal since stays usually post two days after check out. Unfortunately the system hasn’t read the T&C’s!!
Last year I had this as a problem since the last night I needed to renew diamond was a NYE stay which posted on like 3rd Jan. Diamond customer service fixed it for me without quibble though.
My expectation was based on the way nights during a promotion work, where the date of the night you stay triggers the promotion benefits not the check out or account posting date.
It seems weird that a Dec 31st stay counts for 2026, when – according to the terms – it does not qualify for the current 2026 Jan 1st – Mar 31st double points promotion.
@NorthernLass – they were Melbourne, Wellington, and Auckland, with Auckland being booked via Emyr (but upgrade ‘subject to availability’).
