Little advice if I can please. We have some flights booked with indiGo, jaipur to Mumbai and Mumbai to Male.
Are indiGo part of a bigger family where it is worth me linking so I benefit from the points? (Apologies for the wording, not very familiar with the lingo but hopefully someone understands me!)
If so, do I do this prior to travel and do you know how?
Thanks
The short answer is no, Indigo is unfortunately not a member of an alliance.
Lots of complaints about Indigo these days. Flights stuck on tarmac for hours. Make a plan B if things go south.
Shortage of crew, the authority change the flight duty rules and they didn’t get ahead of the changes even though were announced well in advance.
We flew with them twice in February. Flights on time, planes clean and lovely crew. Absolutely no complaints.
We flew several flights with Indigo last year and had absolutely no issues. Newish planes and all on time. We took advantage of some add-ons to improve our experience such as priority boarding (fast forward) and booking the middle seat which worked like a dream.
We also registered for their loyalty scheme BluChip but currently you can’t use Bluchips outside of India…I suspect this will change at some stage.
I’d rank them neutrally.
We have been our allowance a few times with them and get a mix of can’t be bothered to process payment or very strict on payment. We once picked the wrong check-in desk (they all have silly names and we were tired) and after being issued boarding passes, the agent demanded payment. We didn’t end up paying.
Food on board is miserable and certainly not worth paying for, though the half-bulkhead front row does have more legroom.
I’d also recommend paying for front row to be ahead of the plane for MLE immigration.
From MLE, I hope you have J tickets. The regular queue for exit emigration checks is long, open air for a part, hot and humid.
I don’t know if the new airport has commenced service, hope it’s better there.

Yes it’s open. If you arrive too early, you won’t be allowed in the terminal but business class and Priority Pass holders can use the landslide lounge in the old terminal before check-in opens. It’s basically the old lounge.
Immigration exit queue was long but we bypassed it with fast track (OH has a walking stick), but it’s in AC so not much bother.
