We’ve kept an eye on First availability on a flight we’re taking soon and managed to book one seat today with Avios. There’s still one seat showing available for cash so have hope it will become available for Avios too.
That would suggest there should be 2 seats to chose from for the one First class ticket we have but it shows just one option. Is the cabin full and an additional seat for sale anyway or might it be other seat options are simply not available to me as a blue member?
There’s no guarantee of any more avios seats appearing, so have you got a 2nd seat booked in J for your companion so you are at least on the same flight?!
Some of the front row seats are blocked for gold members until a certain amount of time before departure, so depending on what the plane type is the choice for other pax can be quite limited.
Thanks @NorthernLass. Yes, have 2nd seat in J booked for the same flight. Had both seats out and back in J until about 36 hours ago. Here’s hoping we can score the final one 🙂
Hopefully it’s a seat blocking thing. It’s a 787.
If you don’t get the 2nd seat, you can usually swap for a bit if you have a polite word with the cabin crew, and of course you can guest your companion into the Concorde Room if you’re departing from somewhere which has one!
Do you know you’ve got 2 threads running on this?!

Thanks. It’s LHR – MEX so looking forward to the Concorde room on the way out. Enjoyed your trip report that included Mexico City.
