Yes, they were good days, generated over 2 million IHG points, down to under 200k points now, it’s going to be a shock when I have to start paying for hotel stays!
Still haven’t used all my points. But Creation was still useful last month to get the Jordanian status match, as I’m still IHG Platinum because of Creation
Truly the gift that keeps on giving, @Rui 😂
Our last 2 free night certs are being used at the Kimpton Blythswood Square in a couple of weeks when cash and points prices are rather silly – looking forward to some spa time, breakfast, a couple of free cocktails and local goodies in the room if our last stay was anything to go by!
I’ve still got 550k points which are being carefully husbanded for as long as the Kimpton Seafire continues to charge 70k per night …
Don’t know about giving – it certainly keeps on going. Four years after Creation’s unilateral withdrawal of my IHG Rewards Club Premium card, and final closure of my account, they e-mail me to say my latest statement is available to view in My Account (closed long ago) with a negative balance of £5 payable on 14 April 2025. My former log-in details are not recognised. At the time, I accepted the ombudsman’s generous compensation award, and that should have ended the matter. They are a nuisance. Ignore?
I had this for ages as they refunded my £99 card fee as well as issuing me all the free night voucher (so I technically wasn’t owed it). I eventually claimed it from them just to stop the statements coming. I think if anything is owed or owing, they keep mithering you. Just make sure the £5 isn’t accruing charges or interest!
This was my favourite deal ever…..2,000,000 points left and enjoying them hugely.
“P” isn’t Paul the Destroyer is it 😱🤣
Old threads never die!
A phone call reveals:
minus £5 means Creation owe me for the cancelled IHG premium card. They will credit me in 7 days. Amazing. Not letting the fire go out… I was burned by Creation’s sudden closure however never sought any compensation or recourse for I know others have enjoyed, do you think it’s far too late now to reach out and if so how best to do so?
@Paul-B if you have a genuine reason to raise a complaint with Creation e.g. they did not refund the fee (IMO I’d only do if it was a significant chunk of the fee) or withheld points or an earned voucher then you could do that now. You’ll need to determine if it’s worth your time!
It doesn’t sound like this applies to you but if you’ve already complained and have reasons to take further (e.g. it was not upheld) and missed the time limit to refer to FOS then your option is limited to a formal legal process i.e. moneyclaim or similar.
The above applies to me, lost both and a statement worth of points. Never complained, should I reach out to them directly?
Just to confirm, those who received compensation from Creation received it directly, where as those whom went down the FOS path had to go through the process? I appreciate that part of the recourse arrangement was to not discuss it.
The FOS process requires you to go through the provider’s complaints process first and either reach a final decision from that institution, or for it to have timed out.
Time limits for a complainant and for a response are here: https://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/consumers/expect/time-limits

It’s worth bearing in mind that while you may still have a claim, Creation may no longer be in a position to award points or vouchers given that the relationship with IHG terminated a good while ago and your (cash) valuation of these may be at variance with their view.
For those who successfully received compensation, or more what was rightfully owed to them from Creation after having their account suddenly closed, are you happy to share what you asked for and received. Again appreciate it was some time ago.

Well, people were in different situations given the point at which their accounts were closed and if they’d made sufficient spend to trigger a voucher, had a lot of points in flight, had a lot of months of card use prepaid for etc.
Creation did eventually apply a formula to complaints that seemed fair enough to me; if you think you lost out write them a letter of complaint and see what they offer. I imagine they will still apply the existing policy and put you right.
Sorry to raise this the from the dead again, does any one have a specialist contact email for those at Creation whom maybe directly issued or discussed compensation with you?
Well looks like there won’t be any more Creation in the future – all cards are being closed on the 1st December. Email has just gone out:
Your Creation Credit Card is closing on 01 December 2025
We want to let you know that your Creation Credit Card will be closing on 01 December 2025.
We understand that this will have come as a surprise and we’re very sorry for any inconvenience this causes.
What’s happening?
We’re closing the Creation Credit Card for all customers in line with the terms and conditions of the Credit Agreement (Clause 14) on 01 December 2025.
We know that this might be unexpected, and we’re here to help you.
What does this mean for you?
From 01 December 2025, you won’t be able to spend on your Creation Credit Card. If you have any subscriptions or things like Netflix or gym memberships, then please use other payment cards to keep up your services.
Closing this card also means we won’t be able to provide you with balance transfers, cash, money transfers or Flex transactions after 01 December 2025.
What can you do next?
• You might want to look at other credit card options. We work with ClearScore – a free service that can help you check what you’re eligible for without affecting your credit score. Visit creation.co.uk/youroptions to see what might suit your budget and needs. Other lenders and comparison sites are available too.1
• You could look to pay off your balance in full using a loan from another provider.
• Clear your Creation Credit Card balance in full if you’re able to.
• Keep paying off your Credit Card balance.Good riddance. They won’t be missed!
Creation will be dead before I managed to use all my IHG points, who could have imagined?
Good riddance. They won’t be missed!
I miss my diamond status a tiny bit. But not enough to do 70 nights.
70 nights slumming it in IHG Holiday Inns/Crowne Plaza’s. Yuck, no thanks. At least we both still have our Barclaycard Hilton Visa’s, @ NorthernLass 😀
Indeed, however the recent points devaluations make it less valuable.
The ability to transfer points for free as IHG diamond was useful though, especially as the 100% bonus offers are often targeted.
Holy thread resurrection! Gone but never forgotten, the most incompetent card company I’ve come across, incompetence in allowing so much MS, incompetence in the way they threw their toys out of the pram at the end. Incompetence can however be the friend of a points collector!

Find a HI with a 5000 bonus point rate and you can get diamond in 20-25 nights (less any nights where you actually want to stay in an IHG)
