Forums Other Destination advice Antwerp recommendations

Having really enjoyed our Eurostar trips to Bruges last October and Ghent last February, we’re keen to visit Antwerp this autumn. When it comes to hotels there seems to be plenty of choice across the major brands and independents, any recommendations please?

HfP gave the NH Collection a good write up a couple of years ago. The Radisson Blu also has very reasonable prices. Any additional Antwerp tips for eating/drinking/sightseeing would be very welcome thanks! The Rubens House is firmly on the list.

The Rooden Hoed is a very classic and good Antwerp restaurant popular with local burghers serving Belgian classics such as waterzooi and eel in green sauce and much more. Don’t over order as the portions are vast (as expected in Flemish restaurants) and, as is typical in Belgium, you will usually be offered seconds.

@JDB thank you – I’ve had a look at the restaurant and it seems right up our street.

I’ve always enjoyed my stays at Hotel Julien.

Hotels are always such a personal thing, but take a look and see if it’s for you.
