After going through the 6 stages of grief with the BA Club changes, it looks like I am now only 700 points away from retaining Silver in 26/27. How that has happened I don’t actually know, but it’s within touching distance.

I have one more trip booked LHR-CDG-LHR which should net me around 80 TP and then the 150 bonus on the two legs. I have one potential work trip coming up, that could get me there, but it’s far from confirmed. Any suggestions on what I can do to get there? Was thinking about upgrading the Paris flights to CE, which at £95 pp each way would be £380 for the two of us, and think that should give me circa 160 additional TPs and then 350 cabin bonus instead of 150. This still leaves me about 200 TPs short. I’m also loathed to spend almost £400 on CE to Paris when my OH is nowhere near getting Silver!

I could add additional baggage for the trip, but feels like a waste. I could do a TP run to Manchester. I could make a £200 “donation” to the BA SAF fund.

What would you do? There also seems to be a delay in Cabin Bonus TPs being applied, I have my TP for the base flight and additional luggage from last week, but not the cabin bonus yet.

Can you do a 1 day CE BAH? £300 or so spent needed, taking into account cabin bonus

£ 200 on SAF is the easiest option especially if you don’t have any time to actually fly.

For me BA cabin bonuses have been posting at the same time as the flights (unless it’s a BA Hol where they come a little later). Check the detail of the posting in your account as they are showing as separate elements.

If you do go for a TP run I wouldn’t recommend MAN. I’ve done it twice in the last few months for some top-ups to my Royal Jordanian segment run project. It’s a right pain with the new terminal and bus gates. EDI was super easy as could stay airside. NCL also pretty easy despite having to go landside as the airport is small. Doing GLA in March so can’t comment on there yet.

GLA is a nice little airport, @tootsci, I did a BAH to Scotland in 2024 for double TPs. All the staff were lovely and friendly, no queues and the Avis office is a really short walk from the terminal. The lounge is a bit tricky to find though, IIRC it’s next to gate 26 or something like that!

The HI there is very good value and very generous with upgrades.

Welcome back @Northernlass assume you’re staying awake to stave off the jet lag despite your epic journey back?!

Good to know re GLA thanks. Apparently the lounge is getting a major refurb at the moment in the style of the new DXB lounge but sadly don’t think it’ll be open in time for my visit in March

I’ve just come back from a trip up to GLA and back from EDI. The HI Glasgow Airport, while a good price, and I was upgraded to a Exec King room, really needs some love. Bedroom had been refurbed but the bathroom was shocking. The BA lounge at GLA is not expected to return anytime soon, the burst sewage pipe has made a bit of a mess of things.

BA ground service at EDI was fantastic, no issues with checking in luggage in the morning for an evening flight and the BA lounge is really comfortable! Only criticism is that we were held on the ground for a LHR slot restriction. Crew handed out biscuits and water which was a nice touch, until we realised that it was replacing the inflight service rather than complimenting it. I was a little parched by the time I got back to T5!

Have double checked and they are only showing TPs based on spend, I have factored the 150 TPs from the return into my calculations. Looks like I will need to spend £400 on upgrades to Paris and back. Zut alors!

What status would you have attained had you credited this year’s flights to a different OW program?

I am in a similar position and have booked 3 night BAH holiday. I have it in writing from BA Agent via Chat, which I have printed, that the points are applied to the year that the travel took place and not the year that they are applied to your account, as I have booked the break for the last week in March and was concerned they would not get applied before the end of March.

Same here, I needed 1000nTPs, not as close as you. But decided it was worth going for. Was just as surprised as you that l ended up that close too. It was our QR FCO HKT flights that did it, unexpectedly.
I have booked our BOD trip in March as a BAH, 1st time ever. Added the car hire, CE of course, then a hotel at LGW before flying, and a local one near BOD airport night before our morning flight back to LGW. Gets me there with points to spare. And like you, hope they’re applied to this year. OH on CE out, Y back separate PNR tho. For bronze.
Hoping BA will up the nTPS on spend from April 1st.

I’d book a weekend trip for Nice Carnival or Menton’s Fete du Citron.

    @Richie
Your mention of Menton brings back many happy memories from years ago when I was based at the Anglo American hospital in Cannes. Love to visit that little town. Time to visit again I think. A weekend trip from Lot et Garonne maybe….

An update should anyone like it. The TP bonuses I was waiting for didn’t post, I forgot that Economy Basic flights do not get the cabin bonus. I upgraded my flight to Paris, and I am almost there. I have upgraded my next flight to GLA, even though the outbound is from LCY and that should get me the points needed.

However, what on earth is going on with upgrades in MMB. Everytime I have tried to purchased the upgrade offer it crashes out. Called BA to book it and the promitional upgrade was “no longer available” so they repriced the ticket – the cost was £10 less than the promotional upgrade. BA know that the system isnt working. However, they had the cheek to charge me £30 service centre booking fee, which I only saw when the receipt came through. Waiting for them to refund this now!
