480,000 points purchase cap?

Hi all,

I believe that in the past Hilton has offered me a total annual purchase cap of 480K HH Points during 100% purchase bonus events (240K + 240K bonus). Currently I am not being offered that and can only get 320K (160k + 160k). I know that sometimes new accounts are not offered the highest caps, but I have an active Hilton Honors account and have bought large amounts of points in the past, including for a million point Conrad Maldives redemption.

Any idea why my purchase options are being constrained and is there anything I can do to ‘uncork’ this?! I’m experiencing similar with Hyatt. I believe some people receive a 110k annual cap during points promos, but I am only getting the regular 55k cap. As a brit, I am less of a Hyatt user, but I’d still like the option.

I rarely buy HH points but IME 160k was a normal cap. I think it can vary from one offer to the next.

Don’t forget that if your partner or someone else also uses the offer, they can then transfer points to you at no cost (though there may be a limit on transfers, I can’t recall).

Thanks NL. I asked this question on Reddit and we greeted with a series of fairly unhelpful responses. From the anecdata it seems as if US HH members are being shown the 480K with the current offer, but I am certainly not. My wife and brother pooled a bunch of points back in 2023 for our Conrad trip and I’m interested in possibly doing something similar again.

If you’re buying points, I found it very easy to move my HH address to the US, which enabled buying at the cheaper rate, before swapping the address back. That was a year ago and the pound has obviously appreciated over that period so the deal might not be quite as compelling but it may offer a work around on the cap.

Not sure if this helps but I’m also getting a max of 160k (+100%).

T&Cs also state this is the maximum allowed so perhaps it’s changed.

As another interesting data point, my wife, who has no stay history (we do all stays under my account) is being offered 480K cap. Her only real activity was buying points back in 2023 for our last big points redemption.
